Cade Horton leaves with a blister, Kyle Tucker still can't hit and the Chicago Cubs get rolled by the Milwaukee Brewers in game 1 of the double header.
Javier Assad & Ben Brown were good enough for the Chicago Cubs and Dansby Swanson, Ian Happy and Carson Kelly drove in the Cubs 4 runs as the Cubs win 4-3. Pete Crow-Armstrong also shows major signs of turning it around!
Shota Imanaga was excellent and the Chicago Cubs were tied going into the 8th inning when Kyle Tucker, Seiya Suzuki, Pete Crow-Armstrong & Nico Hoerner used some well executed small ball to get some insurances runs and help the Cubs get the 3-1 victory over the Pittsburgh Pirates.
Pete Crow-Armstrong slid off the bag in the bottom of the 9th and things just keep going wrong for the Chicago Cubs. Daniel Palencia also gave up a HR for the first time in nearly 2 months in the 3-2 loss. But once again bases loaded with no outs, only resulted in 1 run and that's the reason the Cubs lost.
Matthew Boyd was cruising besides one bad pitch to Vlad Guerrero Jr in the Chicago Cubs 2-1 loss. With runners at 2nd and 3rd in the 8th Ian Happ, Kyle Tucker and Carson Kelly all strike out in another frustrating loss for the Cub.
Cade Horton struck out 8 batters and continues to impress for the Chicago Cubs. Matt Shaw & Michael Busch went deep and Seiya Suzuki added an RBI in the Cubs 4-1 win over the Toronto Blue Jays.
The Chicago Cubs problems that start with Kyle Tucker, Seiya Suzuki and Pete Crow-Armstrong are not slowing down. Two opportunities with bases loaded and the Cubs barely made a scratch. Javier Assad made his season debut giving up 8 hits and 4 ER's in the Cubs 5-1 loss to the Blue Jays.
Shota Imanaga struck out 9 and was great expect for 2 pitches for the Chicago Cubs. And outside a 2 run HR from Matt Shaw the Cubs lineup did nothing to help him as the Cubs lose 3-2 to the Cardinals and lose their 2nd series in a row.
Michael Busch started the game with a lead off double and 3R HR later on, Matt Shaw went deep and had an RBI triple and the Chicago Cubs take down the St. Louis Cardinals 9-1. Colin Rea also pitching very well in the victory.
Matthew Boyd gave up 3 runs in the Chicago Cubs loss but it's once again the lineup that is the glaring issue for this team. The Cubs had plenty of opportunities to score runs and just never came through. And why is Ian Happ batting 4th??
Cade Horton sets a franchise record for most consecutive scoreless innings as a rookie and after an off-day Seiya Suzuki drives in 2 of the Chicago Cubs 6 runs in the Cubs 6-1 win over the Cincinnati Reds to avoid being swept. Andrew Kittredge also bounced back from a tough outing with an IMACULATE inning.
