The Chicago Cubs failed to sweep the Texas Rangers but have won 3 straight series. Shota Imanaga was good through 4 and then had a brutal 5th inning, the lineup outside of Seiya Suzuki & Michael Busch was very quiet in this game. Plus reaction to the news that Justin Steele is hitting the 15 day IL.
The Chicago Cubs had a good lead against the Texans Rangers before Julian Merryweather, Porter Hodge and a misplay by Kyle Tucker allowed the Rangers to tie the game. AND THEN, Dansby Swanson and Pete Crow Armstrong both had 2 RBI singles to make it a 10-6 lead to help the Cubs secure the win.
Justin Steele pitched 7 innings and struck out 8, the Chicago Cubs stole 5 bases and Ian Happ, Kyle Tucker, Michael Busch and Miguel Amaya all added RBI's to get a 7-0 victory over the Texans Rangers.
After an absolutely chaotic first and second inning the Chicago Cubs got a sizeable 7-3 lead thanks to Kyle Tucker's first homer at Wrigley Field. But the bullpen gave up a couple runs and a very costly error by Justin Turner ending up being the reason the Cubs didn't sweep the San Diego Padres.
The Chicago Cubs continue to put guys on base in this series vs the Padres and a big HR from Carson Kelly gave the Cubs a 7-0 lead. Ian Happ had what may be the catch of the year and backed up a really good outing for Matthew Boyd!
The Chicago Cubs get the win at their home opening day against the Padres with the final score... Shota Imanaga had a STRONG performance for the Cubbies pitching 7 and a 1/3, making the Cubs 28-5 when he starts the game. The offense wasn't booming but a walk by Nico Hoerner and Justin Turner and Dansby Swanson putting the ball in play helped the Cubs edge out the Padres! Ryan Pressly please throw some strikes!!
The Chicago Cubs have SWEPT the Athletics and won their first series of the season. Seiya Suzuki hit two home runs and added an RBI single. Matt Shaw had two RBI singles himself and while Kyle Tucker's home run streak ended, he made an impact on the base paths. Jameson Taillon also had a very strong bounce back outing.
Kyle Tucker hit is 4th HR in his 4th straight game to help the Chicago Cubs get another victory over the Athletics. Justin Steele still struggling with the long ball but grinded out 6 and 2 3rds. Seiya Suzuki homered in the 1st and Dansby Swanson continued a recent hot streak as well.
The Chicago Cubs absolutely destroyed the Athletics! Carson Kelly hit for the cycle for the first time since Mark Grace did it in 1993, Kyle Tucker hit a home run in his third straight game, Michael Busch hit his first homer of the season as well and Ben Brown pitched 5 innings while giving up 3 earned runs, but the curveball was NASTY.
After seeing Dansby Swanson, Seiya Suzuki and Kyle Tucker all hit homeruns in this game and a really good performance from Matthew Boyd the Chicago Cubs bullpen imploded and gave up 8 runs in the 8th inning in a loss to the Arizona Diamondbacks.
