This is a podcast that tracks us - Lucy Heath and Lauren Soley - on our journey to get a TV show Greenlit. From the sh*tty first draft, all the way to the inevitable BAFTA win, we will give an honest recount of the uphill struggle of trying to get a TV show - that doesn’t involve fitties in bikinis - actually on telly. As nepo-less creatives (not bitter) we’re doing this the old fashioned way; Facing our 100 ‘no’s’ before reaching that sweet golden chalice ‘yes’ (reference: Lady Gaga). Please join us on this wild ride, and ask us - and our far more knowledgable guests - any questions you have regarding writing and being a creative in the biz.

BAFTA nominated writers Kyla Harris and Lee Getty join the girls for episode 14 to chat all about getting their show WE MIGHT REGRET THIS greenlit by the BBC (eventually), why ableism is the root of all “isms” and doubling up their co-scriptwriting days as joint therapy sessions. Prepare to be inspired (& forgive our technological faux pas) as this episode is really something.

Lucy and Lauren take a trip down memory lane! They revisit their fave TV shows from as far back as their childhoods, which wasn't that long ago... So bog off Tracy! From Friends to Futurama with a stop off for Lucy to confess she’s never seen an episode of Tracy Beaker. Lauren raves over the likes of Footballers Wives and The Royle Family and the pair unpick why these nostalgic shows felt so god damn addictive.

Patrick Walters. Patrick is an Executive Producer at See-Saw Productions, with previous work that includes; Head of Development on Slow Horses (Apple TV and Amazon Prime), Executive Producer on The Essex Serpent (Apple TV), and Executive Producer on Heartstopper (Netflix), for which he won an Emmy. Most recently, he served as an Executive Producer on Sweetpea, starring our very own Luce, available on Sky, Now TV, and Starz. The girls were (overtly) rather excited to have someone as knowledgeable on ‘Getting Sh*t Greenlit’ as Patrick. They were able to ask their own burning questions, along with the listeners, and hope that the listeners find it as insightful and inspiring as they did!

Tom Berkeley is one half of the infamous writer/director duo known as Tom and Ross (@RossJwhite). Tom started off as an actor then, during the pandemic, made the switch to writing. Tom and Ross wrote their first short film ‘Roy’ starring David Bradley, which was long listed for a BAFTA no-less. This short was used as a proof-of-talent to find funding for their more ambitious project ‘An Irish Goodbye’ which you may have heard of it because it went on to win an IFTA…. BAFTA… AND AN OSCAR - stunning trifecta. Tom and Ross are an incredibly hardworking and talented duo who have just finished writing their first feature film - and we simply loved picking his brains on all things story-telling!
You can now watch their short films on DISNEY+.
