It's finally time for the Firelight Festival in Stars Hollow! It’s also Rory Gilmore and Dean Forester's three month anniversary. Luke Danes gets a visitor in town and is not too thrilled about it. While Lorelai Gilmore helps prepare Rory for the big date, we learn that she is sad and missing Max Medina. At Friday Night Dinner, Emily Gilmore has set up a blind date for Lorelai and she is not very happy about it. After a beautiful night on the town, Dean confesses his love for Rory and she stays silent. Lorelai gives Max a call and we learn that Dean broke up with Rory.

Episode Synopsis:
Lorelai and Max Medina’s relationship seems to be progressing well. During a date at his house, he loans her his copy of Swann’s Way by Proust. Upon Lorelai’s return home, Rory realizes her mother looks happy, which Lorelai confirms that she is. Paris Geller is suffering the gossip mill as her parents go through a divorce. Rory grows fonder of the idea of her mom and Mr. Medina.
Lorelai freaks out, prompting relationship advice from Sookie. Lorelai rudely comments about Sookie’s lack of relationships. Upon trying to end things, Lorelai and Max kiss on Parents Day at Chilton. Paris sees them and spreads the news, humiliating Rory, Lorelai and Mr. Medina.
Emily reprimands Lorelai for the kissing incident, not realizing how much Lorelai cares for Max. Sookie asks Jackson out and Max and Lorelai end their relationship, after which Lorelai is heartbroken.

After a long hiatus, we discuss S1:E9 of Gilmore Girls, so expect some Tristan hate, lots of laughter and of course a mention of the fruit bowl.
While originally against the idea, Rory decides to ask Dean to attend the Winter Formal at Chilton with her. She hesitates because they haven't yet discussed the social parameters of their relationship. Although not being a joiner, Dean accepts.
Tristan liking Rory becomes more evident, asking her to the dance albeit last minute.
Lorelai injures her back making Rory's dress, prompting Emily to stay to take care of her while Rory is away at the dance, which gives them some bonding time.
The dance is better than Rory expected, despite a minor run-in with Paris and a small fight between protective Dean and a jealous Tristan.
Rory and Dean continue their evening with coffee in Stars Hollow, reading and talking at Miss Patty's, but accidentally fall asleep.
Lorelai and Emily's mostly positive evening ends with a massive fight upon the realization Rory never made it home. Rory and Lorelai then have a fight, as well.

Synopsis:
Lorelai and Rory are walking through the Town Square in Stars Hollow, which is all decorated for Autumn Festival. They walk into Luke’s, demanding coffee and muffins, but Luke and Taylor are fighting because Taylor wants Luke to decorate his diner like the rest of the town.
Later, Rory is in Doose’s market observing Dean. Rory is pretending she’s not there for Dean but she’s there for corn starch. That’s when he asks if she wants a pop/free soda. He tells her to choose which hand the soda is in & takes that chance to lean in and kiss her. Rory replies with "Thank You," runs away and accidentally shoplifts the corn starch.
Rory runs to Lane's and excitedly tells her about her first kiss! Rory returns home, wanting to tell Lorelai what happened, but Lorelai was upset with the fridge so she decided not to tell her.
Lorelai goes to Kim's Antiques to pick up the chair she purchased 6 weeks ago. While there, Mrs. Kim tells Lorelai about Rory's kiss, much to her surprise.
While Rory and Lane are in the town square, Lane keeps asking Rory to retell the story because she want to live vicariously through Rory. Lorelai, sitting at Luke’s, watches Rory with Lane and is sad that Rory didn’t tell her about her first kiss.
Lorelai goes into Doose’s to spy on Dean. While Luke and Lorelai are walking through town, Lorelai is venting to Luke about how she’s upset Rory didn’t tell her because they tell each other everything.
Lorelai is waiting up for Rory and when she finally returns home, Lorelai confronts her asking why she didn’t tell her about the kiss.
Lorelai and Rory go to Doose’s to buy bunch of food for their movie night. Lorelai and Dean finally meet. Lorelai invites Dean over for the movie night without Rory's knowledge!
Rory freaks out because the boy that she likes is coming over and she has nothing to wear until Lorelai walks in and picks out an outfit for her.
Dean finally arrives and movie night is underway. Rory turns to Lorelai for advice and assurance. Eventually, Lorelai and Dean are alone, so she gives Dean "the speech."
Rory and Dean share another kiss and Dean says "Thank You." After he leaves, Rory finally tells Lorelai the story of her first kiss!

Synopsis:
During Friday Night Dinner at the Gilmore Mansion, we learn Rory Gilmore is turning sixteeen. Her grandmother insists on throwing her a proper party, in addition to the casual party Lorelai will be having in Stars Hollow. Additionally, Lorelai & Rory have been tasked with choosing which items they'll want bequeathed to them in the will.
Emily requests her daughter's help in shopping for Rory's present. After not understanding Rory's taste isn't the same as the Queen's, Emily finally listens to Lorelai's suggestions and the two wind up having a good time.
At school Rory finds out Tristan and the rest of her Chilton classmates have been invited to the party being hosted by her grandparents. Rory is visibly upset, but doesn't tell her mother after seeing how well she is finally getting along with Emily.
At the party, Rory's holding together until Emily asks her to address the guests by giving a speech. She refused, exclaiming that they're Emily's guests and running upstairs. Surprised, Lorelai goes to find out what's wrong. Rory confesses everything and Lorelai feels bad.
Emily reprimands the girls, and refuses to talk to Rory, even not accepting her invitation to her next party.
Rory attend a college fair to pick up a new Harvard brochure, only to learn Paris has the same aspirations. After learning Rory doesn't like Tristan, Paris softens.
The Stars Hollow bash is in full swing when Richard and Emily show up after all. Being her first visit to Lorelai's house, Emily learns she really doesn't know her at all, which truly hurts her.
While cleaning up, Lorelai sees Rory outside with Dean as they talk and he gives her a bracelet. They then hold hands and Lorelai realizes she too doesn't know her daughter as well as she thought.

Synopsis:
Lorelai informs Emily she can’t get away from work to attend the funeral of a distant relative. Chilton hosts a big bake sale fundraiser, which Lorelai attends with Sookie and her master baked goods. Sookie meets Mr. Medina and he asks Lorelai out. She finally agrees to meet up for coffee while she’s in town for business school.
Rory and Dean have a few awkward, flirty encounters on the bus and at Doose’s Market. On their coffee date, Lorelai agrees to go out on an official dinner date with Max. Unfortunately, Cinnamon, Maury & Babette’s cat dies. Lorelai, Rory and much of the town comforts them and hold a wake at their tiny house. In the chaos, Lorelai forgets about her date until he’s seen next door, arriving to pick her up.
Lorelai convinces Max she isn’t trying to get out of the date and is still interested. She then has to deal with the fact that she didn’t tell Rory about the planned date. Rory and Lorelai come to an agreement that Lorelai won’t keep such things from her in the future. Emily finds out that while Lorelai couldn’t make her thousandth cousin’s funeral, she could make it to one for a cat.

We are introduced to Max Medina. Rory is upset getting her first D in English class. Meanwhile, in Stars Hollow Sookie is sad because a food critic called her magic risotto FINE.
Since Lorelai and Rory Gilmore stay up all night studying for the big test, in the morning Rory is running late. On her way to Chilton, she gets hit by a deer! Finally making it to Chilton, she has missed the test, gets upset and yells at her classmates. After getting a call from the headmaster’s office, Lorelai rushes to Chilton and tries to get them to let her daughter Rory Gilmore take the test. When they won’t let her take the test, Lorelai gets upset.

Synopsis:
During Friday Night Dinner at the Gilmore mansion, Richard and Emily learn that Rory must choose a sport to play at Chilton. Emily concocts the plan to have Richard take Rory to their country club to give her golfing lessons. Lorelai is unsurprisingly opposed, fearing Rory will enjoy it. Emily deems her controlling, much to her chagrin.
At the Independence Inn, Lorelai is busy planning a lavish double wedding for spoiled, wealthy, twin brides. Although handling everything like a pro, Lorelai keeps worrying about Rory. Richard and Rory get off to an awkward start, with him expecting her to be a typical teen who’d prefer an afternoon at the mall. Richard and Rory bond over her love of literature and desire to travel.
That evening Rory & Lorelai meet up at Luke’s Diner. Lorelai is surprised and a little jealous that Rory had a “quite” good time with her grandfather. Her jealousy intensifies the next day after Richard calls to discuss a book with Rory. As a result, Lorelai picks a fight Rory over something as unrelated and trivial as borrowing a sweater.
Sookie helps Lorelai figure out the basis for her irrational behavior and Lorelai makes peace with Rory at the twin wedding.

Synopsis:
On the Lorelais’ first day at Chilton, Lorelai Victoria Gilmore oversleeps, due to her fuzzy clock not purring. A hardcore punctual person, Rory (Lorelai Leigh Gilmore) is upset and yelling the time every minute. Without her dry cleaning being picked up, Lorelai throws together cutoff shorts, a pink tie-dye tee and cowgirl boots to take Rory to Chilton.
Upon arriving at the daunting building that is Chilton Preparatory Academy, Lorelai learns that she must go in with Rory to meet the Headmaster. Her ensemble turns heads in the wrong way among other parents, the Headmaster and Emily Gilmore, who took it upon herself to join the meeting. One head she turns the other way was Ian Jack, a divorced Chilton dad. Before finding the Headmaster’s office, they exchange small talk and Lorelai tells him where she works.
After the rough start, Rory’s day doesn’t improve. She’s explained the harsh reality that she’s already behind and might not be cut out for Chilton after all. She encounters the Chilton version of mean girls, led by super smart and competitive Paris Gellar. Paris makes it clear that Rory will never beat her academically. Things worsen after Rory accidentally wrecks her project. Tristan, spends his day hitting on Rory and calling her Mary. Lorelai has an equally hard day, dealing with the whole town lecturing her about not dressing appropriately for Rory’s first day. After finally picking up her dry cleaning and making it to work, Ian arrives to ask her out. She has to contend with more issues with Emily. To end the terrible day, Lorelai arrives with coffee in hand to pick up Rory.

Synopsis:
We’re introduced to the Gilmore girls, Lorelai and her daughter Rory, who live in the idyllic New England town of Stars Hollow, Connecticut.
We meet Luke Danes, owner of Luke’s Diner (the girls’ favorite spot for food and coffee.) During the scene at Luke’s we see the close bond between mother & daughter, which more closely resembles best friends.
We also are introduced to the staff at The Independence Inn, the inn managed by Lorelai. Michel, the rude French man who is the concierge, the also rude Drella, the harp player & Sookie, the clumsy and quirky chef round out the staff.
We meet Rory’s friend Lane who attends Stars Hollow High with her. Her parents own Kim’s Antiques and want to set Lane up with a future doctor.
Rory has been accepted to Chilton, a prestigious prep school in Hartford, which should help her with admission to Harvard, her dream university. While excited, Lorelai realizes she can’t afford it, so she returns to her pretty much estranged wealthy parents to ask for a loan. They agree, but her mother Emily wants something in return: weekly Friday night dinners with Lorelai & Rory.
We meet Dean, the new kid who has been admiring Rory and her nose stuck in book tendencies. They have an awkward meet-cute and eventually Rory considers not attending Chilton because of him. Lorelai refuses to let her daughter throw her life away for some guy and they have a fight.
The Gilmore girls attend their first of many Friday Night Dinners at the Gilmore mansion. It turns into a disaster with Emily and Lorelai fighting in the kitchen. Rory overhears it all, including the deal made for the funds for Chilton. Lorelai and Rory makeup and Rory decides to go through with attending Chilton.
