The unsolved murder of Jill Dando

On the 26th of April 1999, beloved television presenter and journalist Jill Dando was brutally murdered in broad daylight. The crime shocked and disturbed the nation, and sparked a variety of theories as to why such a well-loved and successful individual would be killed in cold blood. After mounting pressure to find the killer, the Metropolitan police embarked on a witch hunt to apprehend the perpetrator, which is now regarded as one of the institutions' worst miscarriages of justice.

Pride: the legacy of section 28

This pride month, we're exploring one of the most controversial laws ever introduced in the UK. Section 28 of the Local Government Act, introduced in 1988, prohibited the promotion of homosexuality by local authorities across the country, resulting in the erasure of queer culture and the demonisation of the LGBTQ+ community. The law led to one of the most successful civil rights movements in modern British history, however, the journey towards equality is far from over.

Greyhound: The Tragic Murder of Tim McLean

In 2008, Tim McLean embarked on a long bus journey across Canada, but he would never make it to his final destination. Attacked in his sleep by a man 'on a mission from God', no one could have been prepared for the horrors that ensued. The Menendez Brothers: Does Money Talk?

This week’s episode is focusing the intense case of the Menendez Brothers: two privileged young men who confessed who were sensationally tried in court for the murder of their parents. Looking at how the other half live, moral issues, confession evidence and defence pleadings, the Hollywood backdrop of the crime is very fitting. We investigate whether the Menendez brothers are truly spoiled cold-blooded killers, or was there more to the story than we know?

Slenderman: A Dark Tale

The internet can be a strange place. Its a great source of fun and entertainment, but, if you look for it, something more sinister is always lurking in the shadows of the web. In May of 2014, a fun sleepover between friends took a dark turn, when 12 year olds Anissa Weier and Morgan Geyser sought to murder their friend in the name of a mythical online creature, the Slenderman. Was this a cold blooded crime, or an unfortunate tale of what can happen when a fantasy goes too far?
