Guten Tag! Welcome to Unit 5. As always we will review what we have already learned and introduce some new vocabulary and, this time, some more questions. Let's start!

The way to say “to do” or “to make” in German is:

Machen.

Let’s repeat:

Machen

I would like to do

Ich möchte machen.

To say “I do” or “I make”, we say:

Ich mache.

To say “it” we say:

Es.

I do it.

Ich mache es. 

I would like to do it. 

Ich möchte es machen.

To say “I don’t do it” or “I’m not doing it”, we say:

Ich mache es nicht.

I’m not doing it now. 

Ich mache es jetzt nicht.

I would like to do it.

Ich möchte es machen.

I’m learning it.

Ich lerne es. 

To say: “you do” we say:

Du machst.

To make it a question we invert the words. So, to say: “do you” or “are you doing” is:

Machst du?

The word for “what” is:

Was.

Let’s repeat:

Was.

The German for: “What are you doing?” is:

Was machst du? 

Let’s repeat:

What are you doing? 

Was machst du? 

What are you doing now? 

Was machst du jetzt? 

What are you doing now? I’m learning German.

I’m learning it.
