Today, letâs take a nostalgic trip back to the 90s⊠with one of the most iconic toys of that era: the Tamagotchi.
If you grew up in the 90s, you probably remember these little oval-shaped devices with a tiny black-and-white screen. Inside lived a virtual pet that you had to feed, play with, and take care of every day.
In this episode, Iâll share my own memories of having a Tamagotchi as a child, and also tell you about my recent experience of buying one again during a trip to Japan! Itâs funny, a little nostalgic, and a reminder of how such a simple electronic toy became a global phenomenon that marked an entire generation.
This episode is perfect if you want to learn French through everyday objects, childhood memories, and a bit of pop culture!

In this episode of La Pause Café Croissant, I share my unforgettable bike trip with my father along the Canal du Midi, covering 320 km across southern France. We camped under the stars, stayed in charming guesthouses and even slept in a wooden cyclo-lodge.
We carried everything on our bikes tent, sleeping bags, food and despite 5 flat tires and some sore muscles, the adventure was full of laughter and beautiful scenery. From Carcassonne to Béziers, the landscapes were breathtaking.
We also enjoyed local food every day (no weight lost here!), and I even swam in a pool, a lake, and the Mediterranean Sea. A perfect mix of sport, nature and relaxation. Great listening for intermediate French learners who love travel, storytelling, and authentic French vocabulary.

We do it every week but don't talk about it!
Today, we dive into everyday French vocabulary around laundry: a task everyone does at home but rarely talks about outside. From washing clothes, using detergent, and hanging laundry to folding it neatly and putting it away, youâll learn the key expressions used in daily life.
Weâll also look at common French phrases like faire une machine, Ă©tendre le linge, and dĂ©crocher le linge, as well as practical details about detergents, fabric softener alternatives, and that many French people prefer drying clothes on a rack instead of using a dryer.
This episode is perfect for learners who want to practice useful, real-life French they can immediately apply in their daily routine or when living with roommates, family, or even chatting with neighbors at the laundromat.

Today I, Elo, share with you my new favorite app: Focus Friend. Itâs not an ad, just a genuine recommendation! This adorable app helps you stay away from your phone and focus on real-life tasks, all with the help of a little bean who loves knitting.
Created by American science communicator Hank Green, Focus Friend combines productivity with a cozy, kawaii design. As you set timers and stay focused, your bean knits socks that you can later exchange for decorations. The app is free, with no ads, and offers optional paid features to support the independent creators behind it.
Along the way, youâll also hear more about Hank Green and his brother John Green, author of The Fault in Our Stars. This episode is perfect for learners who want to practice French while discovering a fun, creative, and useful recommendation.

Today we talk about photo albums: a beautiful way to keep summer memories alive. After the holidays, many of us have lots of photos stored on our phones or cameras. But what do we do with them?
Iâll share my thoughts on different ways to create an album: the modern option of online printed photo books, which are quick and practical, and the more traditional âscrapbookâ style, where you print photos and add personal souvenirs like museum tickets, maps, or little notes.
Youâll hear about my own vacation photos and how I plan to turn them into a memory album. This episode is perfect for learners who want to practice everyday French vocabulary while discovering a topic thatâs both creative and personal.

From preparing homemade onigiri, a Japanese rice snack I fell in love with during my summer trip, to enjoying a delicious vegan-friendly brunch with friends, it was a day full of good food and good company. Later, my husband and I took advantage of the beautiful late-summer weather for a motorcycle ride to the Normandy coast, where we relaxed by the sea.
Youâll discover everyday French vocabulary around food, leisure, and weekend activities, while getting a glimpse of how French people love to share moments of friendship and enjoy simple pleasures. Perfect for intermediate learners who want to improve their listening skills and feel part of a casual, authentic conversation in French.
