Abdul Rahman Ghassemlou was a Kurdish politician and leader. Ghassemlou was the Secretary-General of the Democratic Party of Iranian Kurdistan from 1971 until his assassination in 1989 by individuals suspected of being agents of the Islamic Republic of Iran.
Jalal Talabani was a Kurdish-Iraqi politician who served as the sixth president of Iraq from 2005 to 2014, as well as the president of the Governing Council of Iraq. He was the first non-Arab president of Iraq.
