A trivia about "Isn't "convinced criminal" bad?"

It seems that about 70% of people misuse the word "convinced criminal", so I chose it for this theme.
For example, as a wrong example
She was late because she was a convinced criminal who thought she would be forgiven.
Or
He wrote a big name on the pudding in the refrigerator, but he was a convinced criminal who ate it.
How is it? These words "convinced criminals" are used to mean "I know it's bad and I'm acting."
These are essentially misuses.
