In this raw and deeply moving episode of the Kharnage podcast, Hassan Khan shares his personal and painful journey of living under the weight of racism in Britain. From the early 90s, when his father told him, “One day, you’ll want to leave this land”. A statement he didn’t understand back then, Hassan now confronts the bitter truth of what those words really meant.
Throughout his life, Hassan endured racism on a daily basis, navigating a society that constantly questioned his worth, identity, and place in it. But rather than break under the pressure, he rose through it. With unmatched determination, he found strength in sports, where he built success in spite ofconstant prejudice and exclusion.
This episode is not just a testimony to his pain — it’s a declaration of resilience. Hassan opens up about the cost he paid emotionally, mentally and spiritually just to exist and succeed in a world that often refused to see him as equal.
But this is not just his story — it’s a reflection of a wider, growing issue. Racism is far from over. In fact, it’s rising again. Hassan issues a powerful call to action: we must no longer stay silent. It’s time to come together as one to confront racism, dismantle it and protect the next generation from enduring the same injustices.
This episode is for those ready to listen, to learn, and to stand.

In this second episode of the Kharnage Podcast, Hassan visits Palestine to speak to yet another exceptional human being, with an extraordinary story. Ameera Abuarqoub was born in the beautiful city of Ramallah and although she was born with sight problems, sadly for her and her family this was just the beginning of the heartbreak, due to a medical error Ameera was devastatingly left totally blind. However, true Heros are often made in the hour of defeat and perhaps that very quote was uttered with Ameera in mind, as she went on to embrace her visual impairment with open arms. Ameera can now be seen wandering confidently in the narrow, cobbled alleys of Birzeit’s old town, relying on her white cane. She taps her loyal guide, right, left, right, discovering the surface of the ancient, preserved passages. She moves much in the same way that her inventive mind draws on its own images and her long skilful fingers scan elegantly over her braille university books. Success would have been far more difficult to achieve, had it not been for Ameera’s wonderful sidekick, her mother. This story is sure to warm the coldest of hearts. So please share, comment, and give us five stars. :) If you would like to get involved, then please leave a comment and we will get back to you. Keep it Kharnage!
