In 1 Peter, it encourages the Christian believers to stay strong in the face of persecution. To emulate Christ in His suffering and to beware of their real adversary, the devil who “prowls around like a roaring lion seeking someone to devour” In 2 Peter, Peter’s theme is a simple one: Pursue spiritual maturity through the Word of God as remedy for false teaching and a right response to heretics in light of Christ’s promised second coming (2 Peter 1:3, 16).
