Trigger warning: suicide, death, and grief.
In honor of September being Suicide Awareness Month, this episode spreads awareness regarding suicidal ideation specifically when it comes to people who are affected by chronic health conditions. This episode discusses suicide awareness and prevalence generally, important language when discussing suicide, suicidal ideation specifically related to chronic illness, and supportive resources and tools.
For any type of suicidal ideation, it is necessary to take it seriously, assess for intent and plan, establish protective factors, a safety plan, and take safety measures if warranted.
If you or someone you know is in crisis, please call 911 or 988.
This is not a substitute for therapy, or substitute for a safety intervention.
You are never alone.
