Kylie and Tom, as part of their first Halloween series, reflect on the 1980 horror / psychological thriller The Shining, how we were always the podcasters for the Overlook Hotel, and discuss:
- The effect of isolation on the human mind and how this story, regardless of its paranormal aspects, succeeds as a suspenseful story on cabin fever
- How this film was not respected upon release
- How Wendy ends up fulfilling Jack's duties as caretaker for the hotel while sleeps in, works on his "novel", and shares drinks with the ghosts of the hotel. In addition, Jack failure in the role of husband and father existing before his violent tendencies consumed him.
- What is Jack's relation to the Hotel and how the Overlook collects the souls of its occupants
- The pivotal bathroom scene and the use of red in the film adaptation
- What is the deal with the woman in Room 237?
- Stephen King's disdain for the first adaptation of his 1977 novel

- The return of many fan favorite characters / musical themes and crowd-pleasing moments in this final installment

- the mastery or acceptance of death with the Horcruxes and Deathly Hallows

In this penultimate chapter of the Harry Potter series, we discuss:
- The decision by Warner Brothers to split the last book of the saga into two films, starting a trend in Hollywood
- Why Sorcerer's Stone beats all the other Harry Potter films, except the final installment
- How this film is unlike any other in the series by skipping Hogwarts and instead focusing on a character-focused road trip for the trio
- The hilarity of the Seven Potters plan and the shared father-son moment of sorts with Bill Weasley and his real life dad, Mad Eye Moody
- Hermione's grief reflected in where she chooses to hide with Ron and Harry from the Death Eaters
- Visiting almost every main character home: The Dursleys, The Burrow, The Granger residence, Malfoy Manor, Godric's Hollow, and the Lovegood residence
- Ron finally showing he is not as worthless as many think him to be
- Why we should have seen more of Dobby the House-Elf

In today’s episode, we’re reflecting on Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets. We’ve tried to rewatch the Harry Potter series so many times over the past five years and rarely seem to make it all the way through. Needless to say, we’ve watched Chamber more than we can count. This time around, we took an analytical eye to our reflection and had some insightful discussions about what we noticed during this watch.
