Sometimes the stories that shape us the most, are written by the words we never got to say.
Today my friend Dr. Avi Patel (@doctor.avi IG, @doctoravi youtube) joins me to share a story he's never gotten to share about triggers, resentment, the stories we tell ourselves about who we are and ultimately how clarity builds love and respect in friendships, even when we don't agree with each other.
He shares the story of an argument that brought him to clarity and respect with a dental school friend before he tragically passed.
We unpack the challenges of being the child of immigrants, finding what your authentic self looks like when you're a chameleon taught to blend in, and finding the courage to be seen for who you are.

the secret to being more confident/charismatic/successful is actually right in front of your eyes, but no one emphasizes the ingredients to this secret sauce!! While we all know that helping other people feel heard, validated, and seen when interacting and connecting is important, no one tells you HOW! Today I'm giving you a practice guide to 3 tools that you need in your toolkit, this will help you have better conversations, feel more successful and fulfilled at work, have better relationships outside of work, and overall unlock a new potential in your life, all from these 3 things: microvalidations, compliments, and acknowledgements!

Welcome to the Just A Quick Pinch Podcast summer series, What Was Never Said - where I interview guests about the ex mentors & bosses, previous partners, & friendships that faded, and the words they never got to say. We unpack why we avoid these hard conversations, what they say about us, and what we learn from the things we never got to say.
Today I'm sharing my story of a really hard experience that became a great lesson during dental school. This is a story about building your confidence and holding your head high, pushing through self doubt, and learning the importance of clear communication. There's probably going to be someone out there complaining that this isn't bullying but again, this is my side of the story lmao

My good friend Dr. Haley Schultz (@dr.haley.dds & host of @dentaldownloadpodcast) is here to share the stories of the things she never said! The lessons of the day here: sometimes we overthink and delay conversations until we've agonized for week's, they're worst case in our heads, and heavier burden for us to carry than if we were to address things swiftly and head on. Whether it's working with another classmate in a student org or having talks about money with our bosses, todays stories show that sometimes it's best to nip things in the bud, before they become a forest in our heads!

We hear of her stories of the job hunt when an ex-preceptor refused to help in a time of need, and with ex best friends that were about to be her bridesmaids when she realized they had no idea who she was. The complexity of adult friendships, the toxicity of people pleasing and "niceness" - this episode has it all!

If I could summarize the most helpful skill I've learned since graduating school and working in the real world as a dentist - it's how to turn a tense, angry, upset moment into a breakthrough for your relationship and progress with someone. This is something that even the best communicators / people with the best social skills still have to learn and be intentional about because it's not something you typically have a lot of experience with until you're in the real world.
Today I'm sharing how to use conflict as a tool to get deeper with someone by asking the right questions - the right questions can actually help you build a stronger connection, make progress faster, and get to the bottom of what someones really thinking/feeling so that they can actually hear what you're really thinking and feeling
