Food insecurity is on the rise in the UK due to complex political factors. Existing food distribution models are recognised as stigmatizing to their users. This has prompted a rapid evolution of social supermarkets, which seek to give users access to low cost food and minimise food waste. Dr Hilda Mulrooney presents an overview of "Social supermarkets, nutritional implications and healthy eating: exploration of members and their views".
