first law of motion
Newton's first law of motion is often stated as: An object at rest tends to stay at rest and an object in motion tends to stay in motion with the same speed and in the same direction, unless acted upon by an external net force. Newton's first law talks about the tenfency of a body to remain in its present state of motion. There are two states of motion thta is mentioned in the first law- one which predicts the behaviour of stationary objects and the other which predicts the behaviour of moving objects. In the absence of an external net force balanced forces), objects will remain at rest if they are initially at rest, or remain in motion with constant velocity if theybare initially moving with constant velocity. In both cases, the first law tells us that the body will try to prevent any changes in its state of motion or it will prevent acceleration. If acceleration is zero, then the forces are balanced and the object will be in equilibrium
