It’s Not A Crisis
Childfree and Guilt-Free
There’s a lot of stigma around women deciding to not have children and it’s a pity that society still can’t get out of this mentality. My guest today is a pioneer and advocate for women who decide to take that path and she reassures women that this choice is valid, correct and should be guilt-free.Marcia Drut-Davis came into the spotlight when she appeared on a “60 minutes” interview in 1974, where she talked about how she had decided to not have or raise children. The interview sparked controversy that cost Marcia her teaching job of ten years, but ultimately fuelled her drive to open a dialogue and the minds of people towards childfree life. Marcia was 6 when she first thought about being childfree for the rest of her life. She wrote her memoir “Confessions of a Childless Woman”, where she looks back and shares what led her to make that choice and if looking back she has any regrets. She has and continues to live a wonderfully rich life, without raising any children of her own, and offers her resources to people who want to live the same way.You can find Marcia @childfree_guru, email her at marciadavis@ketravel.com and check out her website https://www.childfreereflections.com/Check out our website itsnotacrisis.com and don’t forget to follow us on @ItsNotACrisisPodcast on both Instagram and Facebook for more content. Marriage Lessons Learned
I am beyond excited to be joined by Kim & Penn Holderness in this episode on marriage and lessons they have learned. Why should you listen to them talk about marriage?. Because they are REAL, they don't pretend to be experts, they have put the time in and are still doing the work. I have listened to every one of their podcasts and seen most of their silly YouTube videos and I just adore them and you will too if you don't already. In this episode they discuss what they have learned, how they have gotten through their ups and downs, Kim's anxiety and OCD and Penn’s ADHD, the ‘I love you’ finger, pet peeves, communication and many more stories from their journey as a family. We also discuss their new book, Everybody Fights (which you should run to get or get the AUDIBLE because it's pretty much a super long podcast they way they do it and it's GREAT) https://amzn.to/2R4S7NVIn 2013, Penn and Kim hit publish on “XMAS Jammies” – a seemingly innocent video Christmas Card intended for their immediate family. Overnight, their video went viral on YouTube and they’ve been making goofy videos with their family ever since. Their family also continues to be one of the most sought-after content creators for family brands. Today, they own their own company, Holderness Family Productions, where Kim is Chief Executive Officer and Penn is Chief Creative Officer. As well as creating content for their channels, they also work alongside brands and agencies to shape product launches and marketing campaigns. Their book about improving communication in a marriage was released March 30, 2021.You can find them at https://theholdernessfamily.com/ and you can get their book at https://amzn.to/2R4S7NVCheck out our website itsnotacrisis.com and don’t forget to follow us on @ItsNotACrisisPodcast on both Instagram and Facebook for more content and even drop us a DM to say hi.And remember: It’s NOT a crisis!
