Since the terror massacre by Hamas of around 1200 people in southern Israel on October 7th, Israelis and Jewish people around the world have had to get re-accustomed to the historic harsh realities of their existence.

Many feel they're battling false narratives, negative commentary as to the way Israel is responding, a rise in anti-Semitism, the compromised response of aid groups and the United Nations and the rewriting of history.

Arguably the toughest moments come with the mistakes that happen in the fog of war. Israel is trying to come to terms with the news that the IDF accidentally shot dead three hostages waving white flags who appeared to have escaped from the clutches of Hamas.

Tal Heinrich is a news anchor, middle east expert and a spokesperson for the Israeli Prime Minister's Office.

In an exclusive interview with the The Sun, she says there's no easy explanation as to why these devastating tragedies happen, but in this case, the rules of engagement were not followed correctly.

Heinrich also tackles several more of the pressing issues of the conflict including the fate of the remaining hostages, prospects of a deal, UN ceasefire negotiations, de-radicalisation challenges and if there is a threat to European cities by Hamas or its supporters.
