En abril de 2024, el Tribunal Europeo de Derechos Humanos (TEDH) dictaminó que las políticas climáticas del Gobierno suizo violaban derechos humanos reconocidos en la Convención Europea de los Derechos Humanos.
Según la sentencia, el derecho a la vida privada y familiar obliga a los Estados a proteger a sus ciudadanos de los "graves efectos adversos" del cambio climático.
