Meditations Series

This series of meditations by Preacher Campbell McAlpine draws extensively from Psalm 1, positing Biblical meditation as the most rewarding, yet difficult, topic that promises to change a believer's entire spiritual life. The core message revolves around the guarantee of blessedness, fruitfulness, and spiritual prosperity for the man whose delight is in the law of the Lord and who meditates on it day and night. Campbell stresses the essential need to balance being "filled with the Holy Spirit" (Ephesians 5:18) with allowing "the word of Christ dwell in you richly" (Colossians 3:16). He warns that a lack of this equilibrium prevents the desired result and leads to spiritual "malnutrition". To achieve this fruitful state, a foundation of righteousness is paramount, requiring complete separation from all that is sinful and maintaining a clean heart before God.

Meditation is defined as the inwardly digesting the Word of God—feeding the inner man by allowing the Holy Ghost, the greatest teacher, to plant the Word deep within the soul. This practice is the final and paramount stage among five essential approaches to Scripture: hearing, reading, studying, and memorizing.
Campbell illustrates the pursuit of fruitfulness by urging believers to go to "Bethlehem," the "House of Bread" and the place of "Ephrath" (fruit-bearing), which requires sacrifice, sanctification, and facing the issue of burying anything (person or thing) that interferes with love for Christ. True fruitfulness requires believers to make time and exercise discipline, breaking through obstacles and temptations that the enemy uses to keep them from the "well of Bethlehem". By consistently meditating on Christ through His Word, believers are guaranteed growth, becoming like a tree planted by rivers of water, bringing forth fruit in its season.

Biblical Parenting for Mothers

In this episode, we explore the profound and often overlooked spiritual dynamics within the family, particularly focusing on the role of mothers. Drawing from Scripture like Proverbs 31 and personal experiences, the speaker discusses how a mother's inner life — her prayers, her relationship with God, her own emotional and spiritual health — can deeply influence her children, even from the earliest stages of pregnancy. This episode also tackles sensitive topics like abortion, breastfeeding, and parenting through a biblical lens, emphasizing that true Christian parenting is about embodying Christ’s love daily, not just in outward actions.

Join us for a thought-provoking discussion that encourages both mothers and fathers to consider the deeper spiritual implications of their roles, and to lean on Jesus Christ as the true source of strength and transformation in family life.

Breaking the Barriers to Spiritual Freedom

In this episode, we listen to John and Paula Sandford's "Breaking the Barriers" teaching.

John and Paula Sandford are expert ministers focusing on inner healing and relational ministry. Their teaching is relevant to Christians today because their work addresses deep wounds and barriers that prevent us from experiencing the abundant life Jesus promised.

In "Breaking the Barriers," they begin by defining how Christ has given us "double for all our sins," meaning our debts have been fully paid and covered. They identify three pervasive spiritual barriers that hinder our walk in Christ: spiritual slumber, often caused by a lack of fatherly nurture; spiritual captivity, which can result from wounds incurred in the womb or occult involvement and leads to feeling empty or tormented; and the universal problem of deep, hidden spiritual rebellion and anger at God, which affects everything from our physical coordination to fulfilling our destiny.
They emphasize that identifying and healing these barriers is the key to spiritual freedom!

Couple's Communication Done Right

In this episode, we talk about John and Paula Sandford’s insights on Male-Female Communication. John and Paula Sandford are experienced ministers who draw on their decades of marriage (forty-five years!) and deep counselling work, focusing on how Christians can apply forgiveness and humility to their most intimate relationships.

In their teaching, they outline how men and women were created to complement one another, noting that their different ways of thinking—rooted partly in distinct left and right brain functions—can cause serious friction if not understood. The Sandfords explain practical problems, such as why men often have a "fix it mentality" while women seek empathy, and how unresolved emotional wounds from childhood can exacerbate these natural differences. Ultimately, they provide spiritual solutions, urging listeners to put Jesus at the centre and handle jarring misreadings by praying instantly and letting the Lord bring their reaction to the cross.

Love Life for Every Married Couple

This podcast excerpt unpacks the comprehensive marriage counsel of Dr. Ed Wheat, a family physician and certified sex therapist, who provided prescriptive steps for lifelong marital success, asserting that love can become more exciting annually.

Wheat grounds his teaching in a "divine blueprint" derived from Genesis 2:24, which mandates three pillars for marriage: leaving one's former primary attachments to make the spouse the top priority, cleaving or cementing the bond to make separation traumatic, and achieving one flesh—a total merger of body, mind, and spirit.
We learn about the ten "destroyers" of love (all beginning with 'D'), ranging from distractions and debt to criticism, which must be avoided to protect the marriage. We discuss the "art of loving," arguing that love is a rational, intentional act of the will, not merely a feeling, and is best nurtured through the BEST principle (Bless, Edify, Share, Touch). Finally, this deep-dive offers exceptionally detailed, clinical advice on achieving physical intimacy, including preparation, communication rules, and addressing the significant timing gap between male and female sexual response.

Before the Wedding Night

In this fascinating episode, Dr. Ed Wheat, a family physician and marriage counselor, presents the vital two-part series, "Before the Wedding Night," offering Bible-based messages designed to cultivate a growing, lifelong love.

This counsel focuses on establishing the foundational permanence of marriage through God's ordinance: Leaving all prior loyalties, Cleaving (sticking like glue) for a lifetime, and merging into One Flesh (in mind, heart, body, and spirit). It warns against the 10 Destroyers of Love (such as Distractions, Debt, and Disapproval), emphasizes that true love is a rational choice backed by action, and highlights communication as the "indispensable factor of marriage".

Dr Wheat continues with counsel on the physical "one flesh" intimacy, where he urges couples to set realistic expectations, stresses the need for artificial lubricant, and offers instruction for preparing for a painless first experience (including techniques like hymen dilation). Crucially, listeners learn the differences in sexual response timing (average female requires 13 minutes of physical stimulation, compared to 2.8 minutes for the male) and that the clitoris is the trigger of female desire for orgasm. The overall secret to a lasting relationship, however, is intimacy, built through frequent non-sexual physical contact (hugs and snuggling).

Unpacking your 4 temperament types

Ever wonder why some people are the life of the party while others prefer a quiet corner? Or why some are driven leaders, while others are content to let things be?
This episode dives deeper into Florence Littauers sermon about the 4 temperament types. It launches us into a fascinating exploration of self-analysis and the four temperament types, a concept first introduced by the ancient Greek physician and philosopher Hippocrates.

Join us as we "unpack" each of the four core temperaments:

• The Sanguine (Red-Hot Blood): Meet the extroverted, talkative optimist whose main aim in life is to have fun. Sanguines are natural storytellers, turning every small event into an engaging pageant, even if it's not strictly factual. They are the "life of the party," thrive on compliments, love spontaneous activities, and often declare that "too much is never enough". You'll hear captivating examples, like the speaker's personal tale of losing her car in a seven-story parking garage and her brother charming others into doing his work and receiving a commendation for it.

• The Choleric (Born Leader): Discover the goal-oriented and decisive extrovert with a compulsive need to get things done their way, now. Cholerics are strong-willed, exude confidence, excel in emergencies, and skillfully delegate menial tasks while taking charge of the "big picture". We'll delve into vivid illustrations, such as the story of a seven-year-old Choleric who effectively managed her entire family, and the speaker's own tendency to "fix" anything she sees wrong.

• The Melancholy (Black Bile): Learn about the intellectual giant and deep thinker who analyzes everything, but tends to become easily depressed and often carries a "resident black cloud". Melancholies are sticklers for details and facts, contrasting sharply with the Sanguine's colorful storytelling. They are prone to sinking into despair and find it difficult to be unemotional.

• The Phlegmatic (Much Phlegm): Understand the easygoing individual who has a "lack of pep or energy" and is happy to let others take the lead. Phlegmatics generally don't want to "set the world on fire" and prefer to avoid activities that seem like too much work.

This episode isn't about becoming an "amateur psychiatrist" for others, but about gaining profound insights to better understand your own internal "hard problems" and foster acceptance and improved relationships by recognizing the unique wiring of each person. Get ready to look at yourself and others in a whole new light!

Unlocking Your Child's God-given Personality

In this insightful episode, our hosts talk about Florence Littauers four basic personality types to help parents better understand their children and themselves: the Sanguine (fun-loving), Choleric (leader, seeks control), Melancholy (deep, thoughtful, wants things right), and Phlegmatic (peace-loving).

They highlights how a lack of understanding these innate personalities can lead to significant problems, including identity confusion, depression, and even suicide among teenagers. Parents often mistakenly try to mould their children into what they want them to be, rather than nurturing who God made them to be. When a child's fundamental need is suppressed – be it fun for a Sanguine, control for a Choleric, perfection for a Melancholy, or peace for a Phlegmatic – it can lead to deep depression.

The core message is for parents to "train up a child in the way he should go" by recognising and affirming their child's unique personality, fostering their strengths, and adjusting their own behaviour accordingly. Beyond personality, the parents' personal responsibility to instil a saving knowledge of Jesus Christ and model a loving, Christian example at home is paramount.

By embracing these principles and allowing children to be themselves, parents can help them develop a strong self-identity and self-worth, ultimately leading to the reward of children who "rise up and call you blessed".
