Have you ever backed away from sharing your feelings or opinions with someone due to a fear of judgement, rejection, or emotional harm? If so, give this episode a listen and see if my guest, Lani (MD) and I can help you re-examine that mindset. Today's topic of discussion is vulnerability. Psychologist, Brene Brown, argues that vulnerability is not about weakness, but rather, is an act of courage, realness, honesty, and risk, that drives innovation, creativity, change, love, and belonging. A longtime friend of mine, Lani, joins to share a personal story of vulnerability - speaking on being a cancer survivor at a public charity event (which was totally out of her comfort zone); and how being open has led her to being less fearful of judgement. We also bring it back to being a friendships, dating, and relationships and discuss how and why putting yourself in a vulnerable position leads to self-growth and being a better empathizer; and when we HIGHLY DO NOT RECOMMEND putting yourself in a vulnerable position. Tune in for a personal, but relatable, episode :)
