I've lost passion for God, I just don't care as much as I used to, I want to love God the way I did in the beginning! I don't feel like praying or reading my bible, what can I do to start feeling like it again? All Christians have dealt with the struggle of being apathetic towards the things of God, and whilst in this season of dryness we ask ourselves many questions: “Am I doing something wrong?”, “Why don’t I feel God?”. “Why aren’t things getting better?”. In this episode we've brought back Nico to discuss all these questions and more to uncover the reason why Christians struggle with their passion for God, and the mindset we need to overcome it.
Pastor Phil Chorlian, a man who has been faithfully leading and pastoring a church for over 25 years. A man of God who has personally guided and sharpened us who we now have the privilege of having on the show. From rebelling against any authoritative figure, skipping church to go smoke, and living for himself, to a fully transformed life of devotion to God. To then ONLY walk away from the faith and chase his own dreams. How did he become a pastor? How did he know that pastoring is what God was calling him to do? What are the problems our generation has? And what are the solutions? What are the things he wished he knew/did sooner? Tune in as we discuss all these things and more in this special episode. ENJOY!
No matter which way I turn I can’t make myself do right. I want to but I can’t. When I want to do good, I don’t; and when I try not to do wrong, I do it anyway… ...In my mind I want to be God’s willing servant, but instead I find myself still enslaved to sin. These are words directly quoted from the Bible. Who’s you might ask? Apostle Paul, a man who we respect, look up to, and learn from, yet he said the very things we say to ourselves everyday. Everyone is at war with their sinful nature, and it can be discouraging and disheartening when we lose these battles constantly. And so the question we ask ourselves is: How do I resist it? How do I recognize the flesh in my life? Listen in as we discuss these questions, expose the flesh, and share what we can do to be ready for the fight.
Why does it matter to have childlike faith? What does that even mean? How do I achieve that? Why did Jesus say we must receive the kingdom like a child? In a well known scene in the Gospels we see the disciples wrestling with the question of “who will be the greatest in the Kingdom of Heaven?”. Only to have Jesus respond by saying that they must have the faith and the attitude of a child. In this episode we break down Jesus’ unforeseen response, and learn how to achieve this kind of faith, as well as understanding the importance of it even to the point that Jesus says without this kind of attitude, we will not enter the kingdom of heaven.
Enough is enough! That feeling of numbness and dissatisfaction for the things of God is done! The church hurt you. Life got too busy. God let you down. You didn’t fit in. But will this damage your faith in God in a way that could end the relationship? This episode is not to defend the church or the damages it may have caused you, but it is to remind you of the living God and His everlasting love for you. No amount of hurt caused by others can stand in His way. This is a call to go back to church. To remind you of the power in God’s people. To remind you of the separation between religion and relationship. Religion may have failed you, but God never will.
Will you stay in the same place forever? Will you continue to find comfort in staying stagnant, receiving no growth? Will you continue in the cycle that you’ve been in for years? Will you stay comfortable in sadness? Will you keep letting situations and emotions control you forever? And it's time we face these problems head on and learn the tools we need to break the cycles and experience all that God has for us. Join us for a conversation of exposing, reflecting and encouragement to take control of your life.
