What if a Faustian deal backfires on ol' Scratch himself, at least initially? A little folklore from Ireland.
On tonight's Spooky Season Bonus Episode we skim the depths of Djinn folklore as an introduction to a much deeper dive planned for later this season.
Keep your eyes peeled on www.thealchemistcabinet.com as the brand new 2026 Practical Distillers Almanac will be dropping very soon!
It isn't often I just talk candidly about my form of Majik on the show, but this one just fits. We explore the Majik (SIC) of using an old Skeleton Key as a talisman and pendulum in the Vevay Indiana Cemetary to find the grave and access the knowledge of the spirit of an Absinthe Distiller in the 1830's!
A fun narrative reading of "The Well At Worlds End" , The Frog King, and The Frog prince. As always we enjoy reading a few Fairytales for Spooky Season because no one reads anyone enough Fairy Tales now days!
Thank you guys for supporting Kim and I. We really love this show but could use some serious help promoting it to the world if at all possible!
Please give us a like, share, and subscribe!
Happy Spooky Season!
It seems to us like it is about time we got around to the topic of the Trickster on some deeper historic level here at IYHGYHE, considering the events surrounding the experiences that spurred this podcast in the first place detailed in episodes 2 and 3 of Season 1.
We decided we would dedicate a couple of episodes to exposition thereof as well as a telling of some mythology (Greek and Navajo here) related to Trickster type entities; of course, a little Orphic hymn to Hekate never hurt anything either.
Join us as we dive into this invaluable 'Spiritual Intelligence' that who cannot be ignored.

I can't express truly how wonderful the work that Daniel and Charity do is. Both of this events are no misses for Kim, Penny, and myself and are highlights of the beginning of "Spooky Season"!
Hey! We are back, finally! In episode 1 of the newest season of IYHGYHE, we interview our neighbor to the west in Paoli, Indiana; Chance Martin, about his Bigfoot research group and upcoming events!
This is a great episode as we haven't had a lot of Bigfoot related content over the years, and not for a lack of trying. Finding someone local with firsthand encounters who is actively researching other local encounters is truly a treasure trove.
As always, we truly appreciate the support of our listeners and we hope you enjoy the show. Please like, rate, and share the show as it helps us promote the show to a larger audience and means the work to both Kim and I.

Indiana is home to numerous paranormal groups. Tonight Kim is joined by Southern Indiana's own Access the Paranormal. Kim stumbled on their video on TikTok recording from Mitchell, Indiana, Spring Mill State Park. Danny joined Kim, and briefly Alan, to discuss paranormal investigation and their approach. Access the Paranormal takes a truly unique approach in that they invite and encourage the public to join them. They teach them how to use and analyze equipment and evidence, and debunk.
Give this awesome episode a listen. You can find Access the Paranormal on Facebook, YouTube and TikTok. Don't forget the "the" otherwise you'll be following someone in Australia.
We are joined once again by our good friend; author, poet, and seed saver Stephen Smith to discuss his various paranormal encounters! For about the past year I have been recording an occasional video from my porch diving into the deep distilling history of The Black Forest of Southern Indiana; stories of preacher-distillers, murders, mystery, and Spirits production in general. I thought that compiling them into a volume of IYHG might be a worthwhile endeavor and a fun listen. Understand that these were recorded on my porch from my cell phone not utilizing a microphone so the quality of the audio isn't the best in the world, but I think you will find much to enjoy in the stories themselves.

Kim and I are joined tonight in the Tiny Bedroom Studio by one of the best folks we know, Kent Mace. Kent tells us the story of the Spirit who inhabited the cabin he bought and how the social aspect of distillation seems to draw his attention! Definitely not in the class of residual haunting, 'Franz' seems to be fascinated by modern life.
Tune in for a fun and interesting episode and for a whiskey project utilizing some of this special wood in the maturation process in the near future!
