Humans on the Verge
Kelly Carlin-McCall
14 episodes

Humans on the Verge with Kelly Carlin-McCall explores how individuals and American culture change, evolve, move from one stage of life, or one state of mind, to another.  It is born from Kelly’s curiosity about the strange and miraculous opportunity to be conscious, sentient beings, aka humans, in these interesting times we find ourselves in at the beginning of the 21st century.

Each month two episodes will drop. The first one will be a conversation with someone from the world of psychology, philosophy, politics, spirituality, science, the arts,or entertainment industry to unpack their life experiences and ideas about how culture and humans change. Then in the second episode she’ll build on that conversation by examining the topic through her own life, and those she guides and teaches in her online Humans on the Verge Community, and then offer to the listener a few thoughts for them to ponder on their own.

Theme song: "In the Name of Love" by Kenny Rankin. Used with permission.

Coversation with Rich Logis: Leaving MAGA

I am thrilled for you to learn more about my guest for this episode, Rich Logis, founder of the non-profit Leaving MAGA.

As you know, I am fascinated with change – individual and collective change.

What does it take to really change our direction in life? How do we learn to see the beliefs and sense of identity that keeps us from changing? How are we living into our values, what we truly find meaningful in life, when we change? Are our values preserved, refined or do they evolve?  Why is it so hard to change?

And what happens in a life when you’ve made some choices that send you on a direction that ends up reshaping every area of your life to the point that some important parts of your life now feel alien to you, no longer feel safe and welcoming.

And so you silo those parts off, and live in a new world.

But then one day, you wake up to see that you’ve made an error, that you chose a path that is not what you thought it was, and that you need make a new choice.

But because you have reshaped your life and relationships so much, you are afraid to admit the mistake, and even more afraid that your old world has permanently moved on from you, rejected you, can no longer see you.

My guest today, Rich Logis is a man who has lived such a path the last ten years.

Rich was a devoted member of the MAGA nation for seven years, but eventually, due to a string of events and realizations came to see that he could no longer support the movement.

He founded a non-profit Leaving MAGA for those have left MAGA and desire community, those who want to empower others to leave, and for those filled with doubt and remorse about being a member of MAGA but are afraid to leave.

If you have friends or family that you’re struggling to speak with about politics, check out Rich’s community, Leaving MAGA, that is here to support you, and if you are someone who has quietly quit or are contemplating leaving MAGA, Rich has lots of resources for you.
