What is a military phony and why would someone pose as a veteran if they weren't? Here's your answer

The FBI estimates that there are 300 SEAL imposters for every living SEAL. You have a better chance of meeting someone who speaks Cherokee than you do of meeting a real Navy SEAL. There’s an epidemic of military fakes trolling social media and dating platforms. Call me naïve, but in 2015, the year I met the man who would become my husband, it hadn’t even crossed my mind that anyone would lie about being a veteran. It wasn’t until we had been married two years that I uncovered his fraud and discovered he had been posing as a Navy SEAL and veteran for about 30 years. His story was seamless. He was even commander of the local American Legion. Since that time, I’ve talked to other women all over the world, who have been duped by these predators.
This podcast is intended to raise awareness about this very real problem in the hopes that at least one person will be spared what happened to me.
If you have been scammed by a military phony and need support, please don’t hesitate to contact me on Instagram or Facebook @fraudulationship.
