If you do not pursue your music royalties, you may never collect your money. It will just sit in someone's bank account, collecting interest for them. Tunecore wrongfully placed a copyright claim on my movie "Criminals Gone Wild 2: Menace II Humanity", and ran ads on my film, without my consent. When I confronted Tunecore, my claim was counter claimed by one of their clients, who clearly used my intellectual property, without my permission. After speaking with the Tunecore client, he released the counter claim. I contacted Tunecore with the counter claim release, then asked when my money would be sent to me. Since then, I still haven't received my royalties.

If you use a producer's beat without his or her permission, that producer may put a Content ID claim on your YouTube video, that you uploaded to your YouTube channel. Split sheets must be written up, specifying who owns what percentage of a song. On each song that you collaborate with other people on, a split sheet will need to be made. Once the song splits are agreed upon, you may go register your share, of that song, in your PRO Account (ASCAP, BMI, SESAC).

A "social media platform" and "social media" are two completely different things. Social media can come in the form of a billboard that you see on the highway, or a commercial that you see on TV.

In this episode, I discuss the tragic death of Los Angeles rapper Nipsey Hussle. On Sunday, March 31, 2019, music lost another star, due to senseless gun violence. The alleged shooter, Eric Holder aka Shitty Cuz, is currently being held in solitary confinement by the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department. The hip hop community is currently in shock. Nipsey, who was only 33-years-old, at the time of his death, was a thriving songwriter and business man, who was also recently Nominated for a Grammy Award.
