I was fortunate to go multi-platinum in 2014, with the help of Drake and my first artist iLoveMakonnen, who I signed and managed between 2011-2015. Last year I had a conversation with Ether Da Connect on Skype. Ether is an artist and songwriter from my hometown Brooklyn, NY, who has a song called "WAKA" that's been buzzing for a while. Waka Flocka Flame recently got on the remix of Ether Da Connect's hit song "WAKA", so we share a similar story.

MUSIC PUBLISHING: The 100% Truth
When your song or album begins to get streams, downloads, plays on the radio, played on television, or synced, you will start to receive royalties for your music being played (performed). Royalties come from various sources and it is your job as a publisher to be on top of all of the various royalty sources, so that you and your partners will be paid (especially in a timely fashion).

Plagiarism (People Stealing YOUR SH*T)
In this video, I talk about plagiarism and the copy and paste culture that we now live in. It's getting harder and harder for creators to get recognition and acknowledgement for their work nowadays, due to the ease of copying content. Nowadays, everyone has their own "platform" and everyone online is racing to get more followers. This is causing people to have less respect for journalism and creators.

Why I Dislike TUNECORE (Worst Music Distribution Service)
If you do not pursue your music royalties, you may never collect your money. It will just sit in someone's bank account, collecting interest for them. Tunecore wrongfully placed a copyright claim on my movie "Criminals Gone Wild 2: Menace II Humanity", and ran ads on my film, without my consent. When I confronted Tunecore, my claim was counter claimed by one of their clients, who clearly used my intellectual property, without my permission. After speaking with the Tunecore client, he released the counter claim. I contacted Tunecore with the counter claim release, then asked when my money would be sent to me. Since then, I still haven't received my royalties.

How To Collect YouTube Royalties & NOT Get RIPPED OFF???
If you use a producer's beat without his or her permission, that producer may put a Content ID claim on your YouTube video, that you uploaded to your YouTube channel. Split sheets must be written up, specifying who owns what percentage of a song. On each song that you collaborate with other people on, a split sheet will need to be made. Once the song splits are agreed upon, you may go register your share, of that song, in your PRO Account (ASCAP, BMI, SESAC).

How Artists Fake Authenticity & Identity To Make It In The Industry
I prefer not to associate the word "fake" with the Hip Hop Culture. The Hip Hop Culture is very real and we've seen our share of casualties. If you want to survice in the music business, then the word "fake" should not exist in your vocabulary. There's nothing fake about making music and building a fan base. It takes hard work and sacrifice and I tip my hat to anyone who has found a way to generate income, from their art/craft.

Should YOU Sign with a RECORD LABEL in the SOCIAL MEDIA Era???
Social media has been going on for over a century. Anytime, media is used, and it gets people talking, that's social media. A "social media platform" and "social media" are two completely different things. Social media can come in the form of a billboard that you see on the highway, or a commercial that you see on TV.
