How My Book Began
HMBB #6: Leopold Leeb | Missionaries to China

Nate speaks with Leopold Leeb, author of the forthcoming  Missionaries to China: A Historical Dictionary (Lehigh University Press, 2025). Professor Leeb discusses how he approached writing a book that covers nearly 1400 individuals and why this dictionary is important today. We also talk about some of the challenges that historians in China face when considering narratives of Christian missions in China and what he hopes to see in future scholarship on missionary history in China.

Missionaries to China is a big book (nearly 500 double columned pages!) and so it is fitting that our interview ran a little long as well ; )
