Meet Kirsten! Kirsten is another one of Julianne's Rehab Bestie! Julianne met Kirsten in Retreat Rehab facility and immediately clicked! They stayed in touch after getting sober and have followed one another's journey's from afar. Kirsten joins us today and is incredibly honest, vulnerable and generous with her time and her story. Kirsten is the perfect example of how addiction can grab ahold of anyone. It doesn't matter what your socioeconomic background is, no matter what neighborhood you come from, no matter who your parents are, or what your career path is. In this episode: My Mom (Donna) elaborates some on her DUI experience. We discuss how there are many roads to recovery and many roads to addiction. We share our experiences in active addiction to show that addiction does not discriminate and how it can affect anyone. We talk about our codependency as mother and daughter in active addiction and what that entailed. We also share how we began to get to the other side of our tumultuous relationship and how we eventually became friends.

We are two addicts in recovery who also happen to be mother and daughter. At some points in our relationship, we didn’t speak and at other times we were completely codependent but toxic. However, through getting sober, we were able to heal our relationship and form a bond we never thought possible. The name of the podcast, "How I Met My Mother, Sober" is a play on words of how we each met one another sober. So, tune in as we share our journey!
