Honestly, there’s so much we can say about her. Nina Simone (Eunice Kathleen Waymon) was born on February 21, 1933 and sadly passed away on April 21, 2003. Nina Simone, was an American singer, songwriter, musician, arranger, and civil rights activist. Her music spanned a broad range of musical styles including classical, jazz, blues, folk, R&B, gospel and pop. She has inspired SO MANY artists and her impact can be seen in music today.
In this episode we discuss her early life, how she got into performing and how she got her stage name. We also discuss the Netflix Film: “What Happened Miss SImone?”, our reactions to the documentary, some of our favorite songs and how much Nina means to us.

Finally some science sh*t for you all! J returns with his Science Moment this week and in honor of Earth Day (April 22) we are talking about CLIMATE CHANGE! This shouldn’t be a controversial subject but unfortunately… some people think it's fake. This is gonna be a hard episode because we're gonna be dropping some facts that might scare you BUT just remember, don't lose hope!
J discusses the difference between weather and climate, what is CO2 and why is it bad that it's in the atmosphere, how the ocean absorbs 90% of the Earth's HEAT and why that's bad, acidic oceans, last time the Earth got hot af, what rising sea levels means, why planting billions of trees kinda doesn't help.. and the IMPORTANCE AND URGENCY of supporting Indigenous Peoples initiatives to save the Earth!

We don’t cover a lot of wypipo on this podcast but James Blake is an artist we stan in this household! Also if you work with Beyoncé, you’re okay in our book. We are here with our segment “entertainment review” where we discuss some of our favorite things in pop culture. This week it’s all about the London born artist, James Blake Litherland! Not to be confused with James Brown or James Blunt.. it’s okay we made that mistake too.
James came out with a 4 song EP called “BEFORE” and it’s giving us EDM vibes!! Lesly and J are not shy to a rave or two, or three or five. His sound is ever evolving which we love because it makes every work of art he puts out worth a listen. Because it isn’t the same as before. It’s something new every time! Not only is this man making music for himself he has worked with big name artists like BEYONCÉ, Frank Ocean, Kendrick Lamar, just to name a few! No, literally there’s too many to count.
