Welcome back to A Pod of Their Own, an all-women led Home Run Applesauce podcast where we talk all things Mets, social justice issues in baseball, and normalize female voices in the sports podcasting space.
This week, we begin by discussing this up-and-down week of Mets baseball. The Mets—especially Juan Soto—are hitting a whole lot right now, which is great! The pitching situation is less great, but Nolan McLean is a revelation and Jonah Tong—in addition to being a delight—had a successful major league debut as well.
We also talk about Citi Field being a house of horrors for the Phillies, parabolic mics being the new grimace, and the unfortunate slew of injury updates from the past few days.
Next, we gush with excitement about Dollars for Dingers 2025 and the tryouts for the Women’s Professional Baseball League, which took place last week in DC.
Finally, we wrap things up with Walk-off Wins, where each of us talks about what’s making us happy this week, baseball-related or otherwise.
