There's nothing like finding out a good friend started a show you're deep into so as soon as Kiki Monique/@thetalkofshame got caught up, we dove into our thoughts about the season and its climactic finale. Focusing on a handful of families, each inspired by real former dynasties, it's a historical drama that unfolds at the convergence of old and new money. Being about New York City high society in the late 1880's, it also takes the opportunity to address the inequality and injustices of the time while showing the importance of women, minorities, and working class Americans engaged in the ongoing fight for their rights. Spats about rival opera houses AND learning about history? What's not to love?

The final episode of Season 2 reveals why no amount of reunions would bridge the gap in perceptions for several cast members. Whether it's divorcing couples, former best friends, or people who feel passionately about Danny's behavior when drinking, this reunion made it clear that some cast members are not able to move on. Janet makes additional allegations and seems indifferent to Nia's point about the harm her focus on Danny could do which ends with two very pregnant women, Kristen and Nia, shouting as Janet smirks. It's an ironic twist after last year's plotlines of Janet being pregnant and avoiding anything upsetting. We also learned how close of a friend Zach had been to Brittany's ex at one time, which helped to explain the levels of animosity they now have for one another. A highlight was seeing Andy "scold" Jesse for having his girlfriend come to the end of the last cast event where her presence resulted in drama, but still not agree to film. Overall, it was a meandering but sometimes satisfying end to the season. BONUS: a post by Jesse's girlfriend on the cease & desist and alleged drama that went down at that wrap party

A woman stuck on a tarmac downloads 'Book Lovers' and falls down a rabbit hole into the delightful romcom realm of Emily Henry's witty banter, heartfelt storylines, and endearing characters. Now that the woman (me, it was me on the tarmac) read all six of Emily's books back to back during her travels, this pod presents a brief summary of each. No major spoilers beyond a discussion of plots and general observations, along with which of her books I liked best and why. BONUS: An ill-fated journey to Casa Bonita
Books Discussed: Beach Read (2020), People We Meet on Vacation (2021), Book Lovers (2022), Happy Place (2023), Funny Story (2024), Great Big Beautiful Life (2025)

The second reunion installment tests the limits of rage bait spewed from stunted men. After a solid 18min of Jax making excuses, wallowing in self pity, and shamelessly fishing for compliments, Jesse begins his own display of delusion against Michelle in his hideous, Grandma-couch-print polyester pants. Jason stands by his bestie, Janet holds onto her issues with Kristin and Zach, and Britney continues to walk the line, and stoke the fires, between multiple friendships. Finally, Jasmine, Danny/Nia, and Janet revisiting their layers of issues without much resolution. BONUS: Defining the term 'gaslighting' for Michelle

Heather's not-on-her-exact-birthday-birthday-party is overrun with drama, along with expensive activities. Smashing shot glasses made of ice and doing caviar "bumps" have no chance of eclipsing a wound up Shannon. Across these episodes we witness the confrontation that led to a U.S. Sun article about the aftermath of Shannon's rage.Gina and Travis plug their real estate company, Heather hires the Josh's from Million Dollar Listing L.A., and Tamra and Jen have an impassioned confrontation at a Mexican restaurant.

After a brief summary of the finale episode, we delve into Part 1 of the reunion where Jesse and Jax fail miserably at rewriting history as their soon-to-be ex-spouses fact check in real time, with backup. Failed marriages for the men in floral pants and 2.5 inch concealed lifts take center stage throughout but Nia and Kristin's close friendship and pregnancies are also highlighted. A jam packed episode on the Vice President's recent award, CBS cancelling Stephen Colbert's show, PBS and NPR losing all federal funding, the Senate ignoring another whistleblower, deportations to South Sudan, mistreating the intelligence community and their dire warnings about Russia, Murdoch meetings, and why the Epstein issue is never, ever going away. The return of Gretchen and Slade coincides with Katie's peace offering lunch in an episode that takes a lengthy jaunt down memory lane. We're forced to remember fights of yore in frustrating detail as Tamra and Gretchen yell across hot water. Gina reveals tea from Tamra that makes Shannon's attempts to help Katie reconnect with the ladies seem like a good deed that hasn't gone unpunished. Emily continues to bump heads with Shane, Heather and Tamra seem as close as ever, and Jen's new alliance with Gretchen is on full display - along with two puffed-sleeved, faded denim outfits.

The news that Jax won't be returning for season 3 hit mid-recap, while watching him continue to attempt to emotionally manipulate Brittany and desperately try to make a reconciliation part of their story. As Brittany moves forward with divorce, Jax laments that they shouldn't need lawyers and could talk it out as friends, while balking at paying half of his son's medical bills. Kristin and Luke discuss options to becoming parents as Nia and Danny debate a fourth baby while getting a consultation for the "mommy makeover" Nia wants. Jason and Janet's relationship is a focus of the episode with Janet expressing her insecurities in light of viewer comments question why Jason is with her. They get matching thin line ring tattoos and make a commitment to it being them against the world (Bravosphere).

The 19th season of the original HW franchise kicks off by refreshing our memories of multiple issues from last season, too many of which involve Katie and her Bravo "blogger" besties. Gina and Travis moved their families back in together, Shannon paid her slimy ex and feels like a different person, Jen and Ryan are in wedding preparation mode, Tamra is in therapy, Emily is dealing with family and legal issues, Katie shops for a $100k car but won't show DM receipts to clear her name, and the Dubrows are listing the mansion they just bragged about buying last season. Gretchen and Slade pop up in the previews so we'll enjoy their antics next week.

The fractured group tries to reconvene post-Kristen/Luke engagement but the undercurrent of drama resurfaces on the open ocean. As Trump and Elon continue their online slap fight, we stay focused on the massive tax bill that will take from the working class to provide an astronomical budget for ICE and border patrol, along with tax cuts for corporations and the wealthy. From eliminating loan options for the already burdensome endeavor of pursuing higher education in America, to ensuring a sharp decline in Medicaid eligibility, the effects of this bill will be felt for generations. While Pam Bondi's DOJ continues its pursuit of Kilmar Abrego Garcia and declares the Epstein files nonexistent, we take a moment to learn about her colleague, Emil Bove, and the whistleblower case about him. With details continuing to emerge about the deadly floods across central Texas, meteorologists point out where the failure to warn people on the ground seems to have happened. An open letter from EPA staff that warned of the consequences of undercutting environmental protections resulted in harsh blowback, all while DEI ultimatums for academia and public schools continue.

This review of Careless People by Facebook/Meta whistleblower, Sarah Wynn-Williams, covers Chapters 43-48, plus the Epilogue. The book's final pages bring to life the devastating reality of how "careless people" at the helm of an unchecked platform can negatively impact the entire world, leaving civil unrest, hate crimes, acts of terrorism, and even a genocide, in its wake. Multiple horrors seem to unfold in Sarah's final months of employment. She describes a rushed an incomplete investigation into the ongoing sexual harassment from her boss, Joel Kaplan, that clears him of any wrongdoing, learning about targeted advertising strategies aimed at teens in distress, and the terror of watching bigotry and misinformation take hold in Myanmar while being unable to stop it. BONUS: a brief recap of current cases and inquiries looking into Meta/Facebook by the U.S. Government

The proposal episode feels like a romcom with its heartfelt moments amidst Luke's nerves, Zach's stress, and Nia's efforts to make sure Kristen showers and dresses up. Their careful planning pays off and Detective Doute is completely surprised and shocked by a beautiful and emotional moment. Things take an unexpected turn as Janet's initial reaction is disdain that her vacation away from her baby has been centered around Kristin's engagement, while also deciding to remove herself from gatherings to prioritize Kristin's moment devoid of negativity. Brittany is crestfallen to learn that she was left out of planning, and fishin', as Zach feels the sting of her party planning feedback. In the end, Kristin feels like the luckiest girl in the world so the trip was a success.

Chapters 38-43 are covered in this review of the whistleblowing book by former Facebook/Meta insider, Sarah Wynn-Williams. As Sarah is preparing to leave the company, she tries in vain to get details of the ongoing harassment from her boss, Joel Kaplan, on record with the legal team. Instead, she ends up coerced to take over his work with China, a country she'd been known to avoid due to her personal disapproval with how it had been handled by Mark and the leadership team. Once brought up to speed, the extent of Facebook/Meta's proposals, deals, and compromises with the Chinese government leave her reeling. BONUS: Connecting Henry Kissinger and Pedro Pascal

As the group prepares for a trip to Maui, they attempt to squash issues by utilizing tactics that range from a life coach to a famous Mexican restaurant. As the boyz touch chests and stare into each other's eyes, the women yell expletives over a margarita machine. Luke deals with the stress of executing a surprise for Detective Doute while also navigating emotions about his grandmother's illness, relying on Danny and Nia to act as the trip's organizers. Jax continues to disappoint and frustrate Brittany, and the viewers, with his warped priorities post-treatment but, thankfully, he skips the Maui vacation. The episode ends with Jesse confronting Aaron about the years-long infidelity theory he's become attached to, leaving us with a 'To Be Continued' screen. BONUS: recapped the Aftershow

Unfortunately, this episode focuses on Jax. We witness his first haircut, botox session, and boyz noight out after being released from treatment, all while lamenting about not yet seeing his son despite not contacting the mother of his child. A party for Zach's boyfriend Benji provides an opportunity for Jax to reintroduce himself to the group and massage the narrative that he's doing great, never had a problem with drinking or drugs, and is instead focusing on an anger problem. Zach's lack of respect or reverence for Jax is a highlight and fun to watch after all the cowering and deference from every other man on the show. Danny and Nia continue to battle criticism about Darkside Danny from Janet and Jason, Luke's relationship with Danny stays strong as they plot the upcoming Hawaii proposal trip, and Michelle reveals that Jesse is preventing their daughter from seeing her terminally ill mother. After reviewing why the impromptu bombing of Iran violates the U.S. Constitution, we delve into the semantics of war, the optics of the post-bombing Presidential address, and various possible motivations, as well as potential outcomes. Then, how Trump continues to bring shame upon these lands by made sure to advocate for his dear friend, Vladimir, at the recent G7 meeting, all while our Vice President, JD "I'm a never Trump guy" Bowman, follows the ill-fitting suit by calling our former Presidents "dumb" while singing the praises of the grifting man he once warned people about. Recent NO KINGS protests exceeded the all important 3.5% mark, and made it clear that American citizens do not support the hateful mess in the White House. An episode filled with hatchet burying and blade sharpening. The major event being that Brittney finally files divorce papers one day before Jax's release, and we all breathe a sign of relief. The J-trio of Janet, Jason, and Jasmine, plus Melissa, mend their friendship wound by shifting blame onto Kristen, a choice that will no doubt have consequences. Later, as Kristen tries to confront Janet for talking crap after claiming they'd made peace, we're again reminded of the value of Scheana because she tells everyone what's being said about them. We learn more about what Michelle has been dealing with in her personal life, which only makes Jesse's behavior towards her more disgusting. Brittany's one "noight" at the bar she helped create includes awkward moments for Jax loyalists, and for Michelle, who has begun to feel that her ex is on par with Jax but she hasn't gotten the same level of support.
