It’s almost Halloween and this holiday special is filled with ghostly tales, witchy debates, and a bit of magical mischief to set the tone for spooky season.
The episode begins with one of three original story creations. Tegan shared The Lamplighter’s Last Night, a haunting tale about a man lighting lamps in a fog-drenched town, each flame revealing the souls trapped within. Michele later told a creepy tale: The Barrel in the Attic, a chilling story of a mysterious barrel that rolls down the stairs all on its own. Beilit rounded up the stories with a poignant and eerie story about a young witch whose growing powers lead to rejection from her family and village.
Woven in between the tales the conversation turned to all things Halloween. The hosts traded opinions on their favorite movie witches. Candy loyalties were also confessed, and costume talk revealed a shared belief that Halloween is for everyone—whether you want to be spooky, silly, or simply yourself. When it came to jack-o’-lanterns, they agreed that carving is part of the magic, though practicality sometimes calls for a good faux pumpkin.
In true Hex and Harmony fashion, a little spellcraft made its way into the mix. Together, the hosts conjured a humorous spell to banish autocorrect—a lighthearted charm complete with a ritual circle, a saltwater-dipped stylus, and a chant that had everyone laughing:
The fun wrapped up with a Halloween-themed round of Would You Rather, pitting broom-flying against teleporting, friendly monsters against terrifying ones, and whimsical décor against spine-chilling scenes.
Our hosts created a special Halloween playlist for your listening pleasure. It’s filled with songs to stir your cauldron or soundtrack your pumpkin carving. And for a little historical intrigue, Michele has included links exploring whether Queen Elizabeth I may have had a touch of witchcraft herself.
So pour yourself something warm, light a candle, and enjoy the Hex and Harmony Halloween Mischief Special—a spooky, spirited celebration of the season.
