Craftsmen: Bezalel and Oholiab
1 Then the Lord said to Moses, 2 “Look, I have specifically chosen Bezalel son of Uri, grandson of Hur, of the tribe of Judah. 3 I have filled him with the Spirit of God, giving him great wisdom, ability, and expertise in all kinds of crafts. 4 He is a master craftsman, expert in working with gold, silver, and bronze. 5 He is skilled in engraving and mounting gemstones and in carving wood. He is a master at every craft!
6 “And I have personally appointed Oholiab son of Ahisamach, of the tribe of Dan, to be his assistant. Moreover, I have given special skill to all the gifted craftsmen so they can make all the things I have commanded you to make:
7 the Tabernacle;[a]
the Ark of the Covenant;[b]
the Ark’s cover—the place of atonement;
all the furnishings of the Tabernacle;
8 the table and its utensils;
the pure gold lampstand with all its accessories;
the incense altar;
9 the altar of burnt offering with all its utensils;
the washbasin with its stand;
10 the beautifully stitched garments—the sacred garments for Aaron the priest, and the garments for his sons to wear as they minister as priests;
11 the anointing oil;
the fragrant incense for the Holy Place.
The craftsmen must make everything as I have commanded you.”
Explain – God directed Moses to give instructions to the master craftsmen to build the Tabernacle and all that would be in it. God had filled Bezalel, His chosen master craftsman, with the Holy Spirit giving him great wisdom, ability, and expertise in all kinds of crafts. He appointed Oholiab as assistant to the master craftsman. God had also given special skills to all the craftsmen to be able to do the work that was set before them. The direction came from God, through Moses to the craftsmen.
Apply – God called each of these people to do jobs way beyond their normal human capabilities, from Moses as leader down to every craftsman called to this mighty work. They accomplished everything that God called them to do because He provided the resources, the giftings, the abilities for each to do what He had called them to do. They were faithful and obedient to accomplish much. Should God bless us to be called to a task or even a job bigger than we think we can handle we should be reminded that God is our power and strength. We can do all things through Christ who strengthens us as we faithfully and obediently follow Him to accomplish our assigned tasks.

Respond – Lord, thank You for saving me. Thank You Lord for including me in Your plans. Help me Lord to follow You faithfully, obediently, and joyfully to effectively complete all that You would have me do. I pray that any that do not know You will come to a saving revelation and relationship with You, Amen.
