It has been such an honour to have been able to create this podcast. For episode seven, you can join me on my last ever episode as I hand over to the brilliant new Head Girl team 2022-2023. For episode 6, we managed to record a very special experience… Mr Greenwood organised a wonderful lunchtime talk with an 'old girl' from Norwich High - Mary Edwards attended our school during the war and told us all about her experiences growing up. She is incredibly spritely and warm, she also has the most incredible memory!! I hope you enjoy the snippet of what was an insightful and captivating talk. 

Unfortunately, we encountered some technical difficulties which means the audio is a bit glitchy and we only have 20ish minutes of her talk - but I hope you  find what we have an interesting and thought-provoking fragment.

For episode 5 we are joined by a former Head Girl (from 1957), Alison Jones! She is such a kind and caring woman and I thoroughly enjoyed talking to her. Particularly if you are a student of Norwich High, hearing how we have developed and grown as a school over time is extraordinarily interesting. We really are lucky to attend a school rooted in the empowerment of women and ever broader than that, fighting for all students to make the most of their education, because knowledge truly is power!  I hope you enjoy and that we can have Alison in person at school because I think she would love to see how it's changed and meet some of you! On episode four of HeadStrong we are joined by Erim Kaur to talk about her brand, the industries she's a part of as well as what its like to be a Sikh woman in a society where we don't have very much representation at all! It was an absolute pleasure to talk to her as personally she's had an impact on me and has supported me immensely! 

We recorded this on 26th October 2021, so Bandi Chhor Divas was on the 4th November hence that topic was brought up. People from NHS may even remember me explaining the importance of this day (broadly referred to as Diwali) in assembly!! 

I hope you enjoyed this instalment, I wish we had longer to delve into some of the other topics but I appreciate Erim's dedication with such a busy schedule. Although if any of the topics we touched on are of interest I could do other episodes going into them in detail!

In honour of Breast Cancer Awareness month, we have a very important episode with Laura from @BaldBooblessAndBeautiful !  She discusses EVERYTHING from self checking to her own experience with breast cancer and to maintain a positive outlook. It was an incredible privilege to speak to such a strong and kind woman and I really hope you find this episode helpful in understanding the importance of knowing your body's 'normal' !!  I hope you have a lovely week, stay safe and remember to check your breast area!  - Love Neha x Side notes:  - mastectomy =  a surgical operation to remove a breast - my grandma actually wasn't offered a test for the BRCA gene (a gene that greatly increases a woman's chance of developing breast cancer and ovarian cancer) because it wasn't available at the time, but the point still stands that checking for the gene asap can help people take precautions! - 3:46 there's a glitch when Laura is talking about her treatment and the side-effects  - 4:30 another cut out as she's talking about how treatment affected her appearance and self- confidence.

Her experiences as a transgender woman and parent led her to dedicate her life to spreading awareness and acceptance for gender non-conforming communities around the world. She answers questions sent in by some of you - We engaged in such an invigorating discussion I think many of you would be interested in hearing our thoughts!
