George Floyd (8-10 mins; multiple questions)

*Black and E discuss the one year anniversary of George Floyd’s death

  • Wanted to acknowledge that it has been a year since George Floyd died under the knee of a then-Minneapolis police officer, Derek Chauvin … who is white
  • In Minneapolis, people gathered throughout the day to remember Floyd near the site where he died, an area that has come to be known as George Floyd Square
  • 9 minutes, 29 seconds — the length of time Derek Chauvin knelt on Floyd's neck.
  • Chauvin was convicted of murder last month and is scheduled to be sentenced June 25.
  • Floyd's sister, Bridgett Floyd, did not travel to Washington to meet Biden.
    • She said she didn't meet with Biden because he hasn't delivered on his promise to enact police reform legislation named after her brother by the first anniversary of Floyd's death

  • And differences in the world?

  • If it was an ideal world, how would you want the police’s relationship with the community to be?

Black Thoughts (8-10 mins; 1 main theme)

*Weekly random stigmas Black takes on*

  • TRAUMA IS passed down
  • A growing body of research suggests that trauma (like from extreme stress or starvation among many other things) can be passed from one generation to the next. Here's how: Trauma can leave a chemical mark on a person's genes, which can then be passed down to future generations.-Epigenetics
  • Instead it alters the mechanism by which the gene is converted into functioning proteins, or expressed. The alteration isn’t genetic. It’s epigenetic.

Advice E (10 mins max 1-2 topics)

*Questions and concerns our viewers face on daily and would like a second opinion to*

  • “What should I do if my spouse doesn’t value my opinion?”
