It's in our DNA and our culture, although we can complain with wit and humour. But the reality is that we complain when it's hot, when it's cold, when there are too many people around, and when there aren't enough people around. The pianist James already said it in his "open letter to the Spanish people" in 2018.

¿Qué es lo más importante cuando aprendes español?¿La gramática?¿La pronunciación? ¿El vocabulario?

Esto me lo preguntaba una alumna hace unos meses, y de su pregunta he sacado un nuevo episodio para el Podcast.

Pero es cierto también, que hay algunos errores que son "peores" que otros, por la sencilla razón de que la persona que te escucha no te va a entender, o le vas a generar confusión.

Al final, aprendemos un nuevo idioma para COMUNICARNOS con los demás, para hacernos entender. Y sí, hay algunos errores que, si cometes, puedes generar malentendidos, o que la otra persona no entienda lo que le quieres decir. What is the most important thing to consider when learning Spanish? Grammar? Or pronunciation? Vocabulary?

A few months ago, a student asked me this question, and it inspired a new episode of the podcast.

However, it's also true that some mistakes are "worse" than others. For example, the person listening to you might not understand you, or you might cause confusion.

Ultimately, we learn a new language to COMMUNICATE with others and make ourselves understood. Yes, there are some mistakes that can lead to misunderstandings if you make them, or that the other person doesn't understand what you're trying to say. Today I'm going to talk about three things you need to keep in mind when learning Spanish.

El verano en España es infinito, no termina nunca....o por lo menos esa es la sensación que tenemos el 90% de los padres españoles.

Casi 3 meses donde trabajar con los niños en casa se convierte en misión imposible.

Quizás por eso, porque el "parón" es tan largo, septiembre es para muchos un "volver a empezar". Un momento para marcarse nuevos objetivos, para comenzar, por fin, esa dieta, o apuntarse al gimnasio, o aprender una segunda lengua...

Summer has officially arrived, and most of my students are taking a break to travel, visit family and spend time with their children. I do the same — I love summer!

Disconnecting and resting is very important for the mind and body, but be careful not to disconnect completely from languages for a long period of time. As I've said before, languages aren't like riding a bike; they can be forgotten.

Resting and enjoying yourself doesn't have to mean stopping learning.

Eso es fantástico, a mi me encanta. 

Pero es cierto que hay "otro" español, el que se habla en la calle. Con expresiones, muletillas, palabras....que no vas a encontrar en los libros de texto.

De hecho, esas expresiones y palabras pueden cambiar dependiendo del país o incluso de la zona.

The most common way to learn Spanish is in a language academy, or through textbooks, or with university courses... and generally these academies and courses teach very correct Spanish.

It's fantastic, I love it.

But it's true that there is "another" Spanish, the one spoken on the street. With expressions, pet words, words... that you won't find in textbooks.

In fact, these expressions and words can change depending on the country or even the area.

Many are of Arabic origin, others come from Latin, but also from indigenous languages, French or Germanic... I love Spanish, it is a mixture and a bridge between cultures and each word tells a story and has a past.
