Sanctuary Farms is a nonprofit organization started by nurse practitioner, Andrea Vettori in North Philadelphia. The mission is to cultivate fresh, organic produce, strengthen community and promote health and wellness. Since 2017, Sanctuary Farms has provided 1,500 neighborhood families with over 35,000 pounds of free fresh produce much of which is grown right in the neighborhood. Farm Manager Shawn, along with apprentices Majesty and Shadonna tend to farms on 6 lots as well as tend to the beehives and support programming like the free Farm Stand, Therapeutic Gardening sessions and youth groups. As the organization grows, so does the hopes of transitioning it to the community.
