Zentiva: A Philosophae of Cannabis by Adephus Exasalian | Free Audiobook
Listen to full audiobooks for free on : https://hotaudiobook.com/free Title: Zentiva: A Philosophae of Cannabis Author: Adephus Exasalian Narrator: Ian A. Miller Format: Unabridged Length: 3 hrs and 28 mins Language: English Release date: 01-18-18 Publisher: Exasalian Press Genres: Nonfiction, Philosophy Summary: There is no other element found in nature that has given so much, been so venerated and yet, at the same time, so distrusted as that of the cannabis plant. And like its species cousin, hemp, cannabis is a plant that has been at the center of civilization for thousands of years and only since the past century given way to crime, corruption, corporate greed, and unjust state law. Yet, from this plant there are those of us that have seen the light and how we, as a civilization, can break free from the confines of a subjugated existence and truly awaken into a new dawn. Cannabis isn't about getting high, nor is this natural gift a gateway for abuse, but abuse of power; cannabis has had an effect on the human condition, and it's long since been denied from us, the inborn traits we have once lost. Phaedo by Plato | Free Audiobook
Listen to full audiobooks for free on : https://hotaudiobook.com/free Title: Phaedo Author: Plato Narrator: George Doyle Format: Unabridged Length: 2 hrs and 58 mins Language: English Release date: 12-25-17 Publisher: Audioliterature Genres: Nonfiction, Philosophy Summary: "Phaedo", also known to ancient readers as "On the Soul", is one of the best-known dialogues of Plato's middle period, along with the "Republic" and the "Symposium". The "Phaedo", which depicts the death of Socrates, is also Plato's fourth and last dialogue to detail the philosopher's final day. In the dialogue, Socrates discusses the nature of the afterlife on his last day before being executed by drinking hemlock. Socrates has been imprisoned and sentenced to death by an Athenian jury for not believing in the gods of the state and for corrupting the youth of the city. The dialogue is told from the perspective of one of Socrates' students, Phaedo of Elis, who has been present at Socrates' death bed. By engaging in dialectic with a group of Socrates' friends, Socrates explores various arguments for the soul's immortality in order to show that there is an afterlife in which the soul will dwell following death. After the discussion, Phaedo and the others were there to witness the death of Socrates. Plato (428-348 BC) was a philosopher in classical Greece. Along with his mentor, Socrates, and his student, Aristotle, Plato helped to lay the foundations of Western philosophy and science. ©2017 Audioliterature (P)2017 Audioliterature Contact: info@hotaudiobook.com

M. Publishing Genres: Nonfiction, Philosophy Summary: In this guidebook, you are going to learn some of the basics that are needed to follow the Stoic philosophy. This may seem like an ancient philosophy, one that you do not need to waste your time on, but it has a lot of meaning and value today. This guidebook will give you some of the basics that you need to know to add some more Stoicism into your own life. Stoicism is basically about learning how to let go of the things that you are not able to control, such as the situations and events that occur around you, while taking control over the things that you can, such as your emotions and how you react to the situations that you cannot control. This may seem pretty basic to work with, but it is counterintuitive to what you may be used to in the past, and it will take some time to do well with it. When you are ready to become a Stoic and reach the true happiness that this philosophy promises, make sure to check out this guidebook and learn some of the basics about how this school of thought works. On the Ends of Good and Evil by Marcus Tullius Cicero | Free Audiobook
Listen to full audiobooks for free on : https://hotaudiobook.com/free Title: On the Ends of Good and Evil Author: Marcus Tullius Cicero Narrator: Derek Le Page Format: Unabridged Length: 9 hrs and 8 mins Language: English Release date: 12-19-17 Publisher: Ukemi Audiobooks Genres: Nonfiction, Philosophy Summary: Towards the end of his life and his career as one of the leading politicians and orators in Rome, Marcus Tullius Cicero (106 BCE-43 BCE) was exiled to his country house. It was a time of political turmoil in the capital of the empire, caused by the power-grab of Julius Caesar. In the quiet of the countryside, Cicero began to write on philosophy. In On the Ends of Good and Evil, he set out to consider three major traditions of Greek philosophy - Epicureanism, Stoicism and a branch of Platonism proposed by Antiochus of Ascalon (promoting 'the happy life'). Using a form of the dialectical approach established by Plato in his Socratic Dialogues, Cicero introduces characters who propose each tradition, and then Cicero himself responds with a critical appraisal - a stimulating and engaging pattern. De finibus bonorum et malorum (meaning also the 'final or ultimate aim' of good and evil) is a fascinating document. And, as suiting a man of the world (which Cicero clearly was), he comes to a preferred conclusion after surveying the three traditions. Interestingly, the work opens with an introductory passage in which Cicero explains why he is writing a work such as this, giving an intriguing insight into his time. In Rome, he explains, the study of Greek philosophy was the preserve of Romans who read Greek, and translations of the originals into Latin were frowned upon by scholars. Cicero felt this lofty attitude should not be the case. The wisdom of the past should be open to everyone, he argues, and he proceeds to summarise the Greek philosophic traditions and offer critiques for the benefit of his fellow Roman citizens. Translation by H. Harris Rackham. Contact: info@hotaudiobook.com

Theory and Reality by Peter Godfrey-Smith | Free Audiobook
Listen to full audiobooks for free on : https://hotaudiobook.com/free Title: Theory and Reality Author: Peter Godfrey-Smith Narrator: Matthew Lloyd Davies Format: Unabridged Length: 10 hrs and 28 mins Language: English Release date: 12-19-17 Publisher: Tantor Audio Genres: Nonfiction, Philosophy Summary: How does science work? Does it tell us what the world is "really" like? What makes it different from other ways of understanding the universe? In Theory and Reality, Peter Godfrey-Smith addresses these questions by taking the listener on a grand tour of 100 years of debate about science. The result is a completely accessible introduction to the main themes of the philosophy of science. Intended for undergraduates and general audiences with no prior background in philosophy, Theory and Reality covers logical positivism; the problems of induction and confirmation; Karl Popper's theory of science; Thomas Kuhn and "scientific revolutions"; the views of Imre Lakatos, Larry Laudan, and Paul Feyerabend; and challenges to the field from sociology of science, feminism, and science studies. The book then looks in more detail at some specific problems and theories, including scientific realism, the theory-ladeness of observation, scientific explanation, and Bayesianism. Finally, Godfrey-Smith defends a form of philosophical naturalism as the best way to solve the main problems in the field.
