Wednesday Night Teachings from Gospel of Grace Fellowship in Edina, MN
The class focus is on the creation of the heavens on day two (Gen 1:6–8). the God of Israel is the only transcendent, wise, supremely good creator and sovereign over the heavens, the earth, the seas, and all of creation
This class reviews the Genesis narrative that again and again demonstrates the authority, power, and goodness of the one, true Creator God and the goodness of His original creation.
The events that unfold in just the next few years authenticate Isaiah as a true prophet from God (cf. Deut 13:1–5; 18:9–22) and have profound implications for his proclamation of a coming, greater, Davidic son, who is truly "God with us" (Isa 9:1–7)
After providing brief review and further discussion of Isaiah's commissioning, we begin studying the crises in King Ahaz's day surrounding a new Aramean-Israelite coalition and a resurgent Assyrian Empire
Discussion of the 'big picture', we then turn to YHWH's commissioning of Isaiah (Isa 6), which will set the stage for the sign of "Immanuel" ("God with us") (Isa 7:14ff)
Early chapters of Isaiah and its relation to the rest of the scroll (or book). Focus of the class is on the early sections contrasting Judah, Jerusalem, and Israel.
