While fans might struggle to find their footing in this tonal rollercoaster, the Enterprise crew seem to be having the time of their lives—Picard’s laughing, Riker is enthusiastically… welcoming Ms. Odell, and Danilo Odell discovers the joys of Klingon liquor. But just when you think it’s all shenanigans and hay bales, the story pivots into a surprisingly grim exploration of identity and autonomy. Does it work? That’s debatable—but there are standout moments, including our personal favorite: the unexpectedly touching tea ceremony between Pulaski and Worf.
