Hello everyone and welcome to Gender Studies 101! I am you host Hyacinth, I go by she/her/hers pronouns and am a Gender, Sexuality, Women's studies major at UC Davis. This podcast is an introduction to anyone who is curious about gender studies, regardless of their educational background. I welcome all listeners to start the process of learning and developing curiosity. Please enjoy and keep an open mind!  

This weeks episode features a previous Gender, Sexuality, Women's studies major from UC Davis. Elena, our guest, uses she/they pronouns which we will use throughout the podcast. Elena and I dive into the gender binary, what LGBTQIA+ means to them, the biggest concept or lesson taken away from a GSW major, and a few other fun questions! Please note while listening that Elena and I have studied these concepts and topics for a few years and have a deeper understanding than my guests on my previous podcast. 

This weeks episode takes a look into the perspective of the gender binary from a cisgender male. He does not have any background in Gender, Sexuality, Women's studies yet shares his honest opinions on the term "feminism" and what that word has represented for him in the past and present. 

This weeks episode is joined by Ava, a student at UC Davis studying psychology. Ava is a cis-gender female who does not have a background in Gender, Sexuality, Women's studies. We dive into some questions about the gender binary, in order to get the perspective of someone who may or may not have heard of this concept.
