194. The Death of Lillia Raubenolt

This week's episode will give you a sneak peak into what patrons receive at least once a month over on patreon as bonus content. Myself and my family were on vacation for the past week and while I endeavored to get a new episode done, I came up short on time. Fresh episodes will be back next week and in the meantime, please enjoy this sneak peak into our vault!

On May 23, 2018 three boys were finished working out at their gym and decided to go for a drive, and then to speed, and then to race, along Bayshore Boulevard in South Tampa, Florida. Meanwhile, 24-year-old Jessica Raubenolt had chosen to take her 22-month-old daughter Lillia for a walk along the bay to enjoy the sunshine and the scenery.
The boys barrelled towards where Jessica and Lillia were crossing the street doing over 100mph in a posted 40mph zone and when they spotted Jessica it was too late and Cameron Herrin managed to slow his Mustang down to the posted speed limit before striking them and taking both of their lives.
What came next was a trial that was filled with one family that had broken hearts and another that believed that their son deserved leniency because they had already lost money and he had a lot of guilt over an impulsive mistake.

193. The Wanda Beach Murders

On January 11th, 1965 Marianne Schmidt and Christine Sharrock would take Marianne's four youngest siblings to Wanda Beach for the day for an outting. The beach that day though was closed because of bad weather. Marianne and Christine left the children behind and went into the secluded dune-area of the beaah and tragically would never be seen again. This case is one of Australia's most gruesome unsolved murders, and now, 65 years later, many wonder if there will ever be answers in this case.

192. The Gilgo Beach Killings

For years, decades even, this case of missing and murdered women on Long Island in the Gilgo Beach area was hampered by a lack of evidence, a lack of knowledge and a lack of investigation by the people who were charged with serving and protecting citizens, including the ones that lost their lives that they deemed less important than others.
FINALLY an arrest has been made in this case but we are left wondering if the right man is behind bars, the only man is behind bars and just how many lives could have been saved if police had only done their jobs.
The Gilgo Beach Killings and Gilgo Beach Serial Killer case is still ongoing as the suspect awaits his day in court.

191. The Murder of Jamie Faith

On October 9th, 2020 Jamie Faith and his wife Jennifer left their home at 7:30am to walk their dog and the couple were attacked, seemingly unprovoked, by a masked and armed man. Jamie was murdered in his street, hit by seven bullets, and Jennifer was bound and assaulted. This case is like a roller coaster with MANY twists and turns.

189. The Disappearance of Kyron Horman

On June 4th 2010 Kyron Horman would leave early for school with his stepmom Terri and his younger half-sister as it was the day of the school science fair and he had put together a project for it. However, after his stepmother allegedly left at 8:45am Kyron would be marked absent when he was not in class at all that day. It would be hours, until he didn't get off the school bus, before anyone realized that he had gone missing and a search began in earnest.

It has now been just over fifteen years since young Kyron Horman went missing and it appears as though the only person of interest in the case, although never names as such, is his stepmother Terri.

188. The Devil in the Ozarks Grant Hardin

On May 25, 2025 Grant Hardin, a convicted murderer and rapist, escaped from prison in Arkansas and for twelve days he remained on the run. He would be found only one and a half miles from the prison, likely because law enforcement closed in tightly and quickly and also hindered by torrential rains.
In this week's episode we cover his life, his crimes, how he was convicted for sexual assault after many years, how he escaped and how he was captured.
He certainly will not be in a medium-security prison again any time soon.

187. The Las Cruces Bowling Alley Massacre

On February 10th, 1990 two gunmen would enter the Las Cruces Bowling Alley, seemingly with the express goal of robbing the bowling alley. However, in the roughly twenty minutes that they were inside of the building they would steal $4000-$5000 and they would attempt to take the lives of the seven people that were inside the bowling alley preparing for open. Four people would lose their lives on that day at the hands of the two men and one would lose her life due to complications nine years later. This case is still unsolved and there are certainly people out there that know who was behind this crime.

186. Giulia Tofana and Aqua Tofana

Giulia Tofana was an enigma and in point of fact many contend that she never even existed and that her story is one of lore and folk tales that kept growing more and more elaborate over time.

Let;s imagine that the woman, who there is no discernible proof that she ever lived, was everything that we have been told that she was.  Giulia then was one of the most prolific killers of all time having reportedly been responsible, by way of her Aqua Tofana, for over six hundred deaths.

185. The Murder of Christian Obumseli (Courtney Clenney Case)

On April 3rd, 2022 a 911 call was placed by Courtney Clenney and she was frantic and saying that her boyfriend, Christian Obumseli, had been stabbed. In the background Christian can be heard saying that he is dying.
It would take months before Courtney was arrested on 2nd-degree murder charges and we will talk about some of the believed reasons why.
This case is still in the courts and has seen many twists and turns along the way including the arrests of her parents.

184. The Ortega Family Massacre by Bruce Pardo

On December 18, 2008 a divorce was finalized between Bruce Pardo and Sylvia Ortega and only six days after that Pardo would act on a plan that he had been formulating and planning for for many months.
Bruce dressed up as Santa Clause, went to the Ortega family's Christmas Eve Party and would take the lives of nine members of Sylvia's family, including Sylvia herself.
Bruce would then, with a makeshift air compressor, set fire to the home but the explosion occured while he was still inside, giving him third-degree burns all over his body. He would later take his own life.

182. The Murder of Elizabeth Struhs

The Saints are a religious sect, or cult, based in Australia that was made up of a very exclusive group of people from three families.
One of those families was the Struhs family.  At the time that this case took place, four of the five members of the Struhs family were considered "part" of The Saints.  Parents, Jason and Kerrie Struhs and two of their children, Zachary Struhs and Elizabeth Struhs.
One of the core beliefs of The Saints was that medicine and life-saving sciences are of the devil and not to be trusted  or used by any of the members.
The problem was, Elizabeth Struhs was a type-1 diabetic who was insulent reliant.  Her family, and the people around them would take the steps of removing Elizabeth from that life-saving medication and the results were certainly not what The Saints expected although they are still steadfast in their belief that God will raise Elizabeth Struhs from the dead.

181. The Life and Crimes of H.H. Holmes

"I was born with the devil in me.  I could not help the fact that I was a murderer, no more than the poet can help the inspiration to sing." - H.H. Holmes

H.H. Holmes is one of the more widely known serial killers in American history.  When he is thought of people often think first of The Murder Castle but the truth truly is much different than the stories that have been conflated over the years.  Bailey and I hypothesize on this episode if he should be more remembered as a psychological and intelligent grifter who also murdered, rather than a tortuous serial killer.

180. The Unsolved Murder of Wilma Nissen

On Wednesday October 4th, 1978 a young man was laying wire for a telephone company in Lyon County, Iowa when he thought he saw a mannequin lying in amongst the weeds along Highway 182.  As he approached he quickly realized that it was actually human remains.  Those human remains belonged to a woman who would remain only known as Jane Doe for 26 1/2 years until a fingerprint finally told investigators that those remains had belonged to Wilma June Nissen, a woman who had previously been arrested for being a street-worker in California.

Now, 47 years after her murder what happened and who was behind the murder are still a mystery but Wilma's biological daughter Krissi Atkisson is still looking for and hoping for answers so that she can allow her mom to rest in peace and hopefully see some kind of justice come to those who are guilty of her murder.

179. The Murder of Charles Taylor by Amanda Taylor (The Selfie Killer)

On April 4, 2015 Amanda Taylor and Sean Ball would go to Amanda's father-in-law's home with one intention, to kill him. Amanda blamed Charles (her father in law) for the suicide of her husband because she says that he had caused her husband Rex to become an addict from a very early age.
Amanda followed through on her plan for murder, took a selfie of herself with the murder weapon and Charles' dead body and then took off leading police on a woman-hunt across state lines until she was found because of her obsession with social media. Amanda was stopped before she could take more lives and her own life, all of which was part of her plan.

178. The Tragic Story of The Blagg Family

This week's case is going to showcase what we do over on Patreon for our patrons signed up to either tier.  The ice storm in Ontario this past week caused us to go without power for a couple of days and we had quite the mess to clean up!  As such, we were a bit behind the 8-ball as far as dropping a BRAND NEW episode.  Please enjoy this patron-exclusive episode in lieu of that.

This heart breaking case covers the murder of Jennifer Blagg and the still unresolved case of the disappearance of Abby Blagg. Michael Blagg, father and husband, is in prison with a life sentence for the first-degree murder of Jennifer but still maintains his innocence.

177. Serial Killer Alexander Hernandez

In 2014 Alexander Hernandez went on perhaps one of the quietest serial killer sprees in American History. He took the lives of 5 people and 11 people survived his random and unprovoked attacks.
Victims were going about their lives, on their way to work, on their way to church and following traffic laws when they were attacked.
Hernandez' case took a long time to go through the courts and honestly there is VERY little out there about him, his crimes and his victims.

176. The Murder of Christine Jessop and Wrongful Conviction of Guy Paul Morin

On October 3, 1984 a 9-year-old girl named Christine Jessop got off her bus and went home from school. By the time that her mom and her brother got home though Christine was gone. It was nearly three months that the family went without any answers and then Christine's body was found and it was evident that she had been murdered and sexually assaulted.
What would ensue was frankly an absolute farce of an investigation that would see two trials and then see Guy Paul Morin wrongfully convicted and imprisoned.
This story has a lot of twists and turns and thankfully the question of who killed Christine Jessop has finally been answered but only after thoroughly destroying the life of another man.

175. The Death of Caylee Anthony

In July of 2008 Caylee Anthony would be reported missing after she had not been seen by her mother or her grandparents for just over one month and prior to the 911 calll made by Cindy Anthony (Caylee's grandmother) there was not any contact whatsoever with police. What unfolded from there is a long line of lies and seemingly covering up from many corners and ultimately to this day nobody knows what the true cause of death was for Caylee as her mom Casey was found not guilty of her murder. This week we relay the case and have a deep discussion and Lance certainly veers off in his own direction that doesn't fit the beliefs of the majority when it comes to this case. This is a long one!
