As much as we love this show - really, truly LOVE this show - there are a couple of episodes that bring us down. Sometimes we skip right over them, or fast forward.
Today’s first episode in a new series called Episodes We Skip is A Vineyard Valentine in season 6. It sounds promising - a weekend away with Lorelai and Luke, Rory and Logan. But the weirdness is palpable: Luke is still dealing (awkwardly) with the April situation, and Logan has something he’s hiding. Meanwhile, Rory surprises us left and right.
We discuss some of the character holes and inconsistencies: why doesn’t Luke know anything about Martha’s Vineyard? Why hasn’t he tried lobster before?
Rory seems like a different person - going to the gym, cooking with ease - what gives? And what does this say about her relationship with Lorelai?
Plus, Luke continues to be a “grumpypuss,” the ultimate crankster. Will he ever snap out of it?
But don’t worry, we’ll try to find the redeeming moments of the episode, too: the sweet moments, the funny ones, and the moments that give us hope.

No Gilmore Girls fan can forget Dave Rygalski’s legendary speech to Mrs. Kim. Lane wants to go to the prom with Dave, and he’s determined to make it happen!
In this episode, sisters Jackie and Catherine go through his speech, line by line, to explore what makes it so compelling, lovable, and memorable.
Is it his adherence to safe driving and healthy habits, like flossing?
Is it his renunciation of drugs, carbonation, and video games?
Or is it his jacket, tie, and determined confidence?
Through it all, we can’t help but compare him to Jess and Zach. We have a few thoughts about how he distinguishes himself as boyfriend of the year.
Because, really, Lane Kim deserved it.
Episodes mentioned:
Ep. 11: Single moms on Gilmore Girls
Ep. 20: Lane Kim Part 1: the repression
Ep. 21: Lane Kim Part 2: the rebellion
Ep. 23: Lane Kim Part 3: does Lane need justice?

Lots of people in the Gilmore Girls fandom say that high school Rory was too good for Jess, but adult Jess was too good for Rory.
Is this true? Today, sisters and Gilmore junkies Jackie and Catherine dive into the nuances behind this idea.
What does it mean to be “too good” for someone? Jackie has a 7-part framework for what she thinks it means!
Once we heard the phrase, “Rory aged like milk and Jess aged like wine,” we knew we needed to get to the bottom of this.
Can we appreciate adult Jess without putting Rory down? How do her accomplishments factor into this? And more importantly….should they?
How does Jess’s troubled past contribute to their relationship problems, and much of a “pass” should we give him?
Get ready, townies. We’re goin’ deep!

One of the biggest complaints about the Gilmore Girls revival – A Year in the Life – is Rory’s stagnant career.
After seeing Rory Gilmore’s dreams of becoming a journalist somewhat fade, we have to wonder… Are there other professions that would suit Rory even better?
She has many skills, and lots of writing experience, but was she really destined to become the next Christiane Amanpour?
With a little help from our Patreon community, sisters and Gilmore superfans Jackie and Catherine dive into lots of job and career suggestions for Rory Gilmore, from publisher to event planner, and many more!

Today, sisters and Gilmore superfans Jackie and Catherine answer listener questions in this mini-grab bag episode.
Plus, is it realistic that Paris Geller wasn’t valedictorian at Chilton? And would Paris really be totally fine with it?

June 3rd is a pivotal date in Gilmore Girls history! And what better day to celebrate?
If you can just hear Lorelai saying “June thirrrrrrd,” then this is the episode for you.
Today, sisters Jackie and Catherine pop in with a surprise Tuesday episode to mark the occasion. We dive into why this date is so important to the fandom, what happened on each of those days, and similarities they share.
After all, these are big events - Rory’s court date for stealing a yacht and Lorelai’s planned wedding with Luke!
Both dates have lasting consequences for the Gilmore Girls, lead to major changes for each character’s arc, and give Lorelai a lot to consider.

In today’s deep dive, sisters Jackie and Catherine analyze the similarities between two popular protagonists of the early 2000s: Carrie Bradshaw (in the Sex and the City days) and Lorelai Gilmore from Gilmore Girls.

Taylor Doose is one of Stars Hollow’s most important characters. After all, he basically runs the whole town! (Admit that you love all those festivals.)
Jackie and Catherine have some theories to test with you. On some days, Taylor (played by Michael Winters) is a little bit like the brash Colonel Jessup from A Few Good Men. And on other days, he channels the spunky and spirited Leslie Knope from Parks and Recreation.
So take this quiz with us. Which character is Taylor most similar to?

In today’s episode, sisters, Jackie and Catherine dig into the complicated relationship between Richard and Lorelai. And all the ways that the office set up, reflects their larger relationship.
Does Richard have too much pride? Could Lorelai have done anything differently? Did Richard have any actual business training? Why was Lorelai eager to help? Let’s jump in!

It’s hard being a teenage girl. And even harder if you’re focused, driven, and a high-achiever like Paris with only one goal in mind - Harvard. Paris believes that her prestigious, elite private school, Chilton Academy will help her get there.
But when college acceptance letters arrive, she’s shocked. What happens later that evening at the Chilton bicentennial is… well, pretty disastrous.
Today, on Gabbing Gilmore, sisters Jackie and Catherine dig into a Gilmore Girls moment that is simultaneously cringey, heartbreaking, and witty. In short, a train wreck that we can’t NOT gape at!

Join us for the Best of Gabbing Gilmore! Emily Gilmore is a complicated, often controlling woman who doesn’t usually show a warm-and-fuzzy side. (Especially with her daughter.)

Here are 10 times Emily broke us. Get out your tissues, townies! Jackie and Catherine dig up some of the most poignant moments today.

Paris Geller isn’t the only student to get involved with a professor on teen dramas. Today, sisters Jackie and Catherine explore the many (many, many) teen shows of the ‘90s and early 2000s that featured teacher-student relationships.
There are almost too many shows to count. In addition to Gilmore Girls, we chat about Dawson’s Creek, Felicity, My So-Called Life, One Tree Hill, The O.C., Gossip Girl, Pretty Little Liars - whew!
First of all, why is this such a common theme on teen dramas? How has our notion of consent, and what’s appropriate, changed over the years?
We discuss whether these shows romanticize kids wanting to grow up quickly, teacher harassment, and how scandalous events of the late nineties inspired these ripped-from-the-headlines stories.
And, excuse us, but did the girl from Pretty Little Liars actually marry her teacher??
This is a topic best for adults, so if young ears are listening, we’d recommend popping in some headphones or airpods. Also, if topics like grooming and S.A. are tough for you, treat yourself kindly.

Let’s talk about Jess Mariano, the mysterious boy who arrives in Stars Hollow from the big city.
His arrival is bumpy to say the least! From stealing garden gnomes to a phony murder outside of Doose’s Market, the presence of Jess really shakes up this small, quaint Connecticut town.
Today, sisters, Jackie and Catherine dive into Jess Mariano‘s early days in Stars Hollow, including the reactions of Luke, Lorelai, Rory, Taylor, and the town.
Did Jess ever plan to give it a chance? Did Lorelai say too much too soon? Let’s get into it!

We’re back with Part 2 of 2 in this bonus episode recap of the 90-minute Winter episode of Gilmore Girls, A Year in The Life.
We get into Rory’s career as a 32 year-old: is this the journalist dream she had imagined? Why is she in London so much, and why isn’t Lorelai giving more advice? Plus, does Mitchum know about the “affair”?
Pop culture references abound and, of course, we have to dissect them. From 10,000 steps to the Les Miserables movie and everything in between.
Finally, we get serious, too. There are some tear-jerking moments in Winter so grab your tissues!
