What do you do when the only daycare in your town shuts down? Rally the troops and build a new one! This is the story of a small community in the Northwoods of WI who are all coming together to build a new daycare/school to serve their community, with everyone contributing their unique skills to actualize this vision. There are carpenters, attorneys, accountants, teachers, and people involved in the natural sciences all coming together to not just rebuild, but to create an entire curriculum that involves exploration of the local landscape. This beautiful and pristine area has so much to offer in terms of ecology, science, forestry, and conservation, and the new curriculum is going to have a large element of hands-on learning with field trips to the woods, nearby creek, and community's discovery center. So much about this story is incredible and inspiring, and I am so thankful to have this conversation and learn about the amazing things people can do together when they combine their unique passions, skills, and creativity.
