The final season of LOST on DVD and Blu-Ray was released on August 24, 2010, and with it came a nearly 12 minute epilogue to answer a few remaining burning questions. Kevin and Ben take one final trip down memory lane to explore this epilogue which includes the Hydra Station orientation video, an answer about the polar bears, and the fate of Walt. On Sunday, May 23rd, 2010, one of the best television shows of all time came to its conclusion. One the penultimate episode of From Broadcast Depth, Kevin and Ben cover the series finale of LOST. They discuss the nature of the flash sideways and its connection to the overall themes of the show, set the record straight on fan complaints, discuss the interpretation of the shows final image, and give their overall thoughts on Season 6 as a whole. Ben also reminisces on the finale party he threw and how ABC made it an all day event. There is only one more episode of the podcast to do, but today, we put a bow on coverage of episodes.

With only four hours of LOST to go, the writers decided to provide an info dump fans had long awaited - and it turned out to be one of the most polarizing episodes in the shows history. Ben and Kevin discuss the answers given, the answers NOT given, what caused the polarization, some insight from the DVD commentary, and the casting of Allison Janney as Mother. Then they cover the penultimate episode of the series, settling an old score and setting the table for the grand series finale!

Fate further intertwines our Oceanic 815 crew in the flash sideways, but the most memorable moments this week take place on the Island. Specifically, the iconic "bloodbath" that dwindles the number of our survivors down and forces us to say farewell to several main cast members (and not without some viewer backlash.) Ben and Kevin provide their own thoughts on that backlash and everything else going on as the end of the show draws close.

Unwillingly brought to the Island, Desmond is forced to be hit with yet another electromagnetic blast and his mind travels into our flash sideways where we see how his life with Widmore, Penny, Eloise, and others is very different than it is in the main timeleine. Speaking of different, we get a look into Hurley's life as an entrepreneur and philanthropist who has no memory of Libby, although she certainly has memories of him, and the return of Michael. The death of a character leads to criticism from Ben, a puzzling group split brings criticism from both hosts, and the answer of what the whispers are lead to a discussion on the pay off and if it was worthwhile.

Today we cover one of the most anticipated and one of the best LOST episodes: the first flashback of Richard Alpert. Ben and Kevin discuss why they love this episode, some of the show questions that are answered, and the state of the LOST fandom at this time. Ben also discusses the history of Richard Alpert to this point, and some of the Stephen King influence on the show. Following this, we discover just how Jin got in the clutches of Martin Keamy's hands in the flash sideways, and the reveal of exactly what is Charles Widmore's package.

This week, we question if Ben Linus is truly on a path of redemption and get a glimpse of his life (as well as his father and Alex's) in a flash sideways where Ben serves a high school European History Teacher. After a three episode absence, Sawyer makes his return to the show, where we experience his life as a cop in our alternate timeline. Another character who has been searching for the Island for quite awhile finally finds it, and Sawyer uses their return as a plan to get himself home once and for all.

One of our cohosts loved this weeks flashbacks, the other did not, but they can at least agree some real cool stuff happened on the Island. Ben has a tinfoil hat theory on Claire, there's discussion of the Lighthouse, some deaths we're actually happy about, and more!

In the tradition of mirroring Season 1, episodes 3 and 4 of Season 6 are Kate and Locke centric. Kate's episode features the return of a main cast member who was missing for an entire season, and how her life and Kate's intersected in the alternate timeline. Locke's episode shows how his life is similar and different from the main timeline, his interactions with several different characters, and the acceptance of his fate. Meanwhile, Sawyer falls deeper into his sadness, making him the perfect susceptible target for Not Locke to manipulate. This leads to a discussion of how LOST fans' expectations colored their viewpoint of Season 6 and a particular mythology point answered in this episode.

The sixth and final season of LOST started with one major question - did the hydrogen bomb 'work?' The answer is yes - and no? Ben and Kevin dissect the two part season premiere in detail, with new characters and settings established, a MASSIVE reveal, their thoughts on the "flash sideways" concept, and some fun tidbits from the DVD commentary. Join us for the beginning of the end.

The Season 5 finale introduces us to Jacob, the man we've heard so much about, but have never seen until today. We learn how Jacob touched the lives of several Oceanic 815 survivors at crucial points in their life, leading to a discussion as to what Jacob's purpose may be. In 2007, all things culminate at the four toed statue when "Locke" and Jacob have their showdown, and Richard learns that all may not be what it seems. Our survivors are trying to correct the timeline in 1977 by using the hydrogen bomb to explode the Hatch. This time period give the hosts their chance to vent some frustrations with the character choices, and how some of what the characters stated expressed how the fans were feeling at the time. The episode ends of overall thoughts on Season 5. Only one Season left of Island exploration to go!

The 100th episode of LOST provides the long awaited flashback episode for one Daniel Faraday, where we witness how Eloise Hawking had a hand in guiding Daniel to the Island, why she did so, and that maybe his "whatever happened, happened" mantra has some exceptions. In the next episode,Locke exposes Ben as a fraud while stating a shocking mission, Jack feels he found his purpose as to why he returned to the Island, and Sawyer and Juliet look to leave as they're finally exposed in 1977. The table is set for next week's Season 5 finale in this historic podcast episode!

As we learn this week, the history between Ben Linus and Charles Widmore is tumultuous and complex. We learn about their past, as well as witness Ben go on a journey to be judged by the Island for forgiveness now that he has returned in a performance so well done it earned Michael Emerson an Emmy. We finally get our first flashback of our Freighter folks with Miles, learning about his connection to the Island, his gift of "communicating" with the Dead, and his own set of Daddy issues. We also discover there may be more to the other Ajira 316 passengers than we thought. Two great episodes this week as we get closer to the Season 5 finale!

A further look into Sayid's past reveals more about how he was shaped into the killer he has become, his association with Ben after leaving the Island, and what he feels his purpose is for returning to the Island. We also learn Kate's purpose for returning and what happened to Aaron. These episode shed some light on how the DHARMA Initiative operates and Ben Linus' past, with some mixed feelings from our hosts.

This week's episodes focuses on the DHARMA Initiative, and how Sawyer, Juliet, Miles, and Jin have made a brand new life for themselves in the seventies amongst them. Of course their new life is torn asunder with the arrival of Jack, Kate, Hurley, and Sayid to the Island. In the present day, Sun and Lapidus go looking for Jin and make a harrowing discovery. Ben and Kevin discuss their thoughts on the show focusing on the Dharma Initiative in its hay day, a production snafu that set the LOST fan community ablaze, a fairly major continuity error (possibly two?), and some surprisingly awesome team ups.

This may be our most controversial episode to date, as our hosts take to task an almost universally beloved episode of LOST as an example of Season 5 showing some major cracks. There's plenty to like, but also some serious inconsistencies, what Ben feels is a major cop out from the writers, and a small change that would have made a world of difference in how this episode was viewed. Some big answers are given on this week's episode, namely, how does Locke get off the Island and how do the Oceanic Six make it back to the Island? LOST delves into some fan service but showing us the halcyon days of Rousseau on the Island, including filling in the gaps on some of the stories she's told in previous seasons, and another appearance from the Smoke Monster. To help you out, Ben has helped establish a small timeline of events to put things into context. One of these two episodes provides what the hosts feel is the best quote in the show's history, and a Top 10 overall episode to boot.

As the Island gang continues to travel through time, a lot is learned about the history of the Island and Charles Widmore's relationship to it as they end up in 1954 where a hydrogen bomb threatens the Island's current inhabitants. Locke also thinks of a plan that could put an end up to the spontaneous flashes through time. Off the Island, Desmond is on the hunt for Daniel Faraday's mother, and Ben Linus gets closer to bringing the Oceanic Six together. Ben has a theory as to why he may have some issues with Season 5, and why he wasn't so surprised to see a presumed to be dead character return. A mixed bag of episodes this week, but a lot to discuss!

As Season 5 kicks off, our survivors are split into two groups; on and off the Island. Jack has been bestowed the mission of getting the off Island group to "go back", but things get a little more complicated when Hurley is falsely accused of a triple homicide. The On Island crew meanwhile is coming to terms as they flash through time. Locke is given his own mission by Richard Alpert, and Daniel utilizes an unconventional plan to help them out. A whole lot to process in this two part premiere of the penultimate season of LOST!

The Season 4 finale results in one of the most packed podcast episodes to date, as the finale puts a nice bow on some questions brought up at the beginning of the Season, while giving us more to look forward to. We discover just how the Oceanic Six make it home, the story they constructed, how they're coping with life at home, how Locke and Ben "save the Island", the fate of those who weren't apart of the Oceanic Six, and who is in the casket from the season 3 finale. The Others make a return after a season long absence as well. Kevin and Ben discuss their thoughts on the Season overall, the method in which the Island was moved, the special features on the DVD and Blu Ray, superlatives galore, and much more.
