Discover Change (Discover – Week 3)
Join Pastor Meg Cooke as she unpacks the biblical concept of change, or metanoia. This Greek word literally means a change of heart and mind and is the foundation of our faith. Pastor Meg reminds us that while change is inspired by God, it is not inevitable—we have to choose it. Pastor Meg shares powerful real-life stories—from former gang leaders and successful professionals to our own lead pastor—who embraced this life-altering transformation. Looking at the story of Stephen and the Sanhedrin in Acts, we're challenged to ask: "What is your temple?" Like the Sanhedrin, we often hold onto things (control, career, old prejudices, or even shame) that give us a false sense of power, purpose, or identity. Meg encourages us to trust God's incredible kindness , knowing that when we lose our life for Christ, we will actually find it and gain back more than we ever let go of. Scripture References Mark 1:15 (NIV) Acts 6:13-14 (NIV) Acts 7:51-53 (NIV) Matthew 16:25 (NIV) 1 Corinthians 2:9 (NIV) Romans 2:4 (NIV) Like what you hear? If you feel that what you have heard is for you, and you'd like to be involved, then we would love to hear from you. Discover Church (Discover – Week 2)
Pastor Josh Cooke, challenges us to consider what it truly means to follow Jesus and be part of His church. Using the beautiful metaphor of Christ and the bride (the church) from Ephesians 5, he questions whether our "vows" to Jesus are focused on Him or are too self-centred. The message is clear. We must live for what Jesus died for - the church. He clarifies that the church is both gathered (meeting together for worship, encouragement, and the Word) and scattered (going out to care for the world, preach the gospel, and heal the city). The church isn't a temporary or peripheral thing; it's meant to be the epicentre of a Christian's life. The call is to get involved, find your part in the body of Christ, and embrace a life of committed following. Scripture Reference Ephesians 5:25-32 John 21:15-17 2 Corinthians 3:18 Hebrews 10:24-25 Matthew 25 1 Corinthians 12:15-20 Like what you hear? If you feel that what you have heard is for you, and you'd like to be involved, then we would love to hear from you. Are you plugged in?
In this powerful message, Bradley Mubenga explores the difference between just showing up to church and being truly "plugged in" to community. Using a funny story about his own laptop battery dying during a power outage, he highlights how easy it is to become comfortable and unaware that our spiritual "battery" is running low. Drawing on the early church in the book of Acts, Bradley shares real stories of people in our church and four awesome reasons why plugging into a community is essential. God will surround you , your generosity can change lives , God will move for you , and community is where you find your deepest healing. Don't live life on 5% battery—get plugged in!. Where is God in my sickness? (Where is God? – Week 4)
Where is God when we are struggling with illness? This message from Pastor Josh Cooke explores the question of suffering and Jesus's power to heal, whether immediately, eventually, or eternally. Through three powerful personal stories, including the incredible healing of a baby and a family member finding Jesus on their deathbed, we see that God is always at work. We then dive into the story of the woman who touched Jesus's cloak to be healed after 12 years of sickness and exclusion. Pastor Josh encourages us to draw near to Jesus with vulnerability, and pray in faith, believing that God still does miracles. He reminds us of the power given to us by the Holy Spirit to see God move today. Scripture References Mark 5:25-34 John 14:12-14 Like what you hear? Becoming Dependent on God (Where is God? – Week 3)
This week, we dive into the honest and often challenging question: "Where is God in my lack?" Pastor Meg gets real about the pressure we feel when bills are due, we're searching for a job, or facing expensive needs. She shows us that this feeling of lack is a common experience for God's people, drawing on the peculiar story of Peter and the temple tax in the Bible. This message reveals that God values our dependence on Him—in the big, miraculous moments and the small, daily needs—far more than our self-sufficiency. Absence of immediate provision does not mean the absence of His presence. True dependence leads to deeper intimacy with God, which is the ultimate gift. Matthew 17:24-27 Jeremiah 17:7-8 Like what you hear? If you feel that what you have heard is for you, and you'd like to be involved, then we would love to hear from you. Reversing the shame spiral (Where is God? – Week 2)
In this insightful message, Pastor Josh Cooke explores the debilitating power of shame and how it can cause us to isolate ourselves from God. Shame, defined as a painful feeling of distress from wrong or foolish behaviour, is a common human experience that can lead to avoidance and self-destructive habits. Drawing on the biblical story of Peter, who denied Jesus, Pastor Josh illustrates the "shame spiral." The solution Jesus offers is not merely a comforting word, but a powerful call to purpose. Jesus takes Peter out of his shame by restoring his mission: "Feed my sheep". The ultimate antidote to shame is discovering and pursuing the future God has planned for you. It's time to stop looking back at past mistakes and step into the new life and calling He has for you. Scripture References John 21:15-19 Like what you hear? Finding Hope In The Silence (Where Is God – Week 1)
Life sometimes feels different from what we expect, leaving a gap between what we hope for and what actually happens. In these moments of disappointment or loss, we might find ourselves asking, "Where is God?" Just like John the Baptist, who, while in prison, questioned if Jesus was truly the Messiah he'd been waiting for. This message explores how Jesus meets us in the middle of our pain, offering hope not by immediately changing our circumstances but by first tending to our souls. The sermon encourages us to look past our current struggles and see the eternal hope Jesus provides, bringing peace and healing to the deepest part of who we are. Jesus' priority is to heal our hearts and restore what has been lost, proving that even in the toughest times, He is here. Scripture References Matthew 11:2-5 Luke 4:18 Like what you hear? If you feel that what you have heard is for you, and you'd like to be involved, then we would love to hear from you. You are God’s first choice for reaching your world (Come & See – Week 6)
In this final part of the "Come and See" series, Pastor Meg Cooke shares her personal journey of how one invitation to a youth group by a 12-year-old friend changed the entire course of her life. Through her testimony, she highlights how God gives each of us a unique assignment to reach people for His kingdom, often in ways we can't imagine. Pastor Meg uses biblical examples of Eli, Gehazi, and Judas to show how selfishness can get in the way of fulfilling God's purpose. She encourages us to partner with God's plan and not let excuses like lack of time or ability stop us from sharing the good news with those around us. She reminds us that reaching people is a selfless act that overflows from being in God's presence and that we are His first choice to impact our world. Scripture References Psalm 139:16 Ephesians 2:10 Galatians 5:22 1 Corinthians 13 1 Corinthians 12 1 Samuel 2:12 2 Kings 5:20 Like what you hear? You are the Light (Come & See – Week 5)
Ever thought that sharing your faith is a lot like running a marathon? It feels like you need all the right gear and have to be an elite Christian to even begin. In this message, Pastor Josh Cooke unpacks a different way to look at it. He explains that sharing your faith isn't about being an expert with fancy equipment; it's a natural overflow of what God has done in your life. Drawing from the story of Mary and Judas, Josh challenges us to consider our own response when we see God at work. Are we quick to question and critique, or do we respond with audacious, over-the-top worship? He reminds us that "blessed are the pure in heart, for they will see God". When we truly see Him, our only reasonable response is to worship and tell others about Him. Scripture References Matthew 5:3-16 John 12:1-6 Matthew 26:13 Like what you hear? If you feel that what you have heard is for you, and you'd like to be involved, then we would love to hear from you.
