Paul shows that people naturally make excuses to avoid taking responsibility for sin, shifting blame or rationalizing wrongdoing to protect their self-image and justify their actions. In Romans 3:3–8, he dismantles these arguments, revealing that no excuse can exempt anyone from guilt—and that our only hope for forgiveness and salvation is found through faith in Jesus Christ.

Throughout Scripture, God’s people have united in faith to accomplish what He’s called them to do, trusting His direction and provision. Hebrews 11 reminds us to follow their example by running the race of faith with endurance, fixing our eyes on Jesus who is both our model and our strength.

Faith produces courage—the strength to trust God and obey Him even when it’s costly, countercultural, or dangerous. True faith gives us confidence to stand firm, endure hardship, and act boldly because we believe God’s promises are greater than what we see.

Many people start strong but don’t finish well—but by God’s grace, what matters most is how we end, trusting Him even when obedience feels costly or unclear. Hebrews 11 shows that lasting faith leaves a legacy, as those who endure in belief and obedience pass down a story of God’s faithfulness to future generations.

Faith believes God’s promises and reveals itself through ongoing obedience—the “obedience of faith.” But at its core, faith’s desire is for something better; it longs for what God has promised more than the comforts of this world, trusting and obeying Him as it seeks a better country and a lasting home with Him.

Psalm 23 invites us to slow down and remember that in every circumstance, the Lord gently leads and restores His people. These verses give us rest for weary souls and assurance that His presence is enough.

Psalm 10 reminds us that evil’s arrogance and God’s seeming silence are not signs of His absence but opportunities for His justice to be revealed. Though the wicked boast that God has forgotten, hidden, or will never see, the psalmist declares that the Lord does see, He will act, and He reigns forever. Our response is to cry Maranatha — to call on the Lord for justice, repent of our own sin, and live in hope of Christ’s sure and final victory.

Paul shows that while the Jews had the great advantage of being entrusted with the words of God, they failed to use it, like having the key to the code but never turning it. The real privilege is not just possession but listening to and living by God’s Word, the greatest gift and responsibility given to His people.

Paul shows us in Romans 2:25–29 that when we place our confidence in rituals or religious traditions, we miss the heart of what God wants. True faith comes from the Spirit transforming us inwardly, leading us to repent and trust in Christ rather than relying on outward signs of religion.

Paul warns that religious knowledge and practice mean nothing if our lives don’t align with what we claim to believe, since hypocrisy ultimately dishonors God. In Romans 2:17–24, he shows that Jews and Gentiles alike—no matter how religious—still need the gospel of Christ, because only His righteousness can save.

Paul reminds us in Romans 2:11–16 that God’s judgment is perfectly impartial and fair—unlike human courts, it cannot be swayed by wealth, influence, or appearances, but is based on truth, knowledge, and obedience. Whether through the law written in Scripture or the law written on our hearts, all people are accountable before God, and only through faith in Christ can we stand acquitted.

Paul warns that it’s far easier to see and condemn the sins of others than to recognize our own, and that doing so reveals a dangerous hypocrisy that presumes on God’s kindness instead of being led by it to repentance. God’s patience is not apathy toward sin but an opportunity to turn to Him before His righteous judgment is revealed.

Psalm 73 takes us on a journey from envy to awe, as Asaph wrestles with the prosperity of the wicked and the apparent unfairness of life, only to have his perspective transformed in the presence of God. His story powerfully illustrates the truth that envy looks outward and leaves us empty, but worship looks upward and makes us whole —reminding us that the nearness of God is our true and lasting good.

The story of David and Goliath is not about us overcoming our obstacles but about how Jesus has killed the real Goliath—sin and death. He is the true and better David. We are the Israelites who were saved by God’s King. We are called in to His victory and salvation for the glory of His Name.

The story of the flood in Genesis 6–9 shows God's grief over the deep corruption of humanity, His judgment through the flood, and His mercy in preserving Noah and offering a new beginning. Ultimately, it points forward to Jesus, the better Noah, who takes God's judgment upon Himself at the cross and gives us hope for a future re-creation free from sin and death.

Samson is not a story about a strong courageous hero but how we compromise to sin. We cannot be our own hero, we need a savior to free us from the slavery of our sin. Samson is a flawed, impulsive figure who reflects the unfaithfulness of Israel—and of us. Though chosen and empowered by God, he continually breaks his vow and does what is right in his own eyes. Where Samson failed in strength, Jesus triumphed in weakness.

Genesis 1 to 3 is not just a children’s story; it is our true origin story that shows us who God is, who we are, and why the world is broken. From the beginning, it points us to the hope of Jesus, who came to make things right and bring us back to God.

Old Testament stories are fun and fascinating, but we’ve gotten into a bad habit of making them moral tales just for kids. In reality, all of these stories point to Jesus and exist for the sanctification of all believers. Jonah is not about a fish but about a merciful God who makes a way of salvation for the worst sinners through the true and better Jonah—Jesus.
