Story Transcript:

En: Mateja stood on the edge of a fallen Ljubjana.

Sl: Jesenski veter ji je mršil lase.
En: The autumn wind tousled her hair.

Sl: Listje je bilo povsod, rdeče in rumeno, pokrivalo je opustele ulice.
En: Leaves were everywhere, red and yellow, covering the desolate streets.

Sl: Pred njo razpadli zidovi, ki so nekoč bili lepi domovi in trgovine, zdaj tihi spomeniki preteklosti.
En: Before her were crumbling walls that were once beautiful homes and stores, now silent monuments of the past.

En: This place was once vibrant, but now it was just a shadow of its former glory.

Sl: Tukaj je nazadnje videla svojega brata, Tomaža.
En: It was here that she last saw her brother, Tomaž.

En: Mateja remembered their last argument.

Sl: Ko so besede padale, ni mislila, da ga bo izgubila.
En: When words were exchanged, she didn't think she would lose him.

Sl: Zdaj jo je gnala krivda.
En: Now, guilt drove her.

Sl: Morala ga je najti.
En: She had to find him.

Sl: S seboj ni imela veliko – nož, zemljevid in majhen nahrbtnik z nekaj zalogami.
En: She didn't have much with her—a knife, a map, and a small backpack with some supplies.

Sl: Njena volja je bila močna.
En: Her resolve was strong.

En: She didn't know what dangers awaited her, but she knew she had to move forward.

En: She moved slowly through the ruined buildings.

Sl: Zvok oblik odjekne iz daljave.
En: The sound of shapes echoed from afar.

Sl: Scavengerji, plenilci, pred katerimi so jo svarili.
En: Scavengers, predators they had warned her about.

Sl: Mateja se je skrila za kosom betona in strmela v pepelnato nebo, medtem ko so se glasovi oddaljili.
En: Mateja hid behind a piece of concrete and stared at the ashen sky while the voices faded.

Sl: Njeno srce je divje bilo.
En: Her heart was pounding fiercely.

Sl: Vedela je, da ni veliko časa.
En: She knew there wasn't much time.

En: She wanted to get to the other side where Tomaž was last seen.

En: When she reached the building her acquaintances had told her about, it was already late in the afternoon.

En: The sun had set and autumn had transformed into a cold evening.

Sl: Pred zgradbo so postavali plenilci.
En: In front of the building, scavengers loitered.

Sl: Odločena, Mateja se je premaknila naprej.
En: Determined, Mateja moved forward.

Sl: Peščica listov je zašumel pod njenimi nogami.
En: A small rustle of leaves sounded beneath her feet.

Sl: Prignala se je do stranskega vhoda.
En: She darted to the side entrance.

Sl: Tu je morala biti hitra.
En: Here, she had to be quick.

Sl: Vstopila je v temno zgradbo.
En: She entered the dark building.
