Fi: Hannu istui keittiön pöydän ääressä, katsellen kaulinta kätensä vieressä.
En: Hannu sat at the kitchen table, looking at the rolling pin next to his hand.

Fi: Hänen ajatuksensa harhailivat lähestyvään naapuruston pikkujouluihin.
En: His thoughts wandered to the upcoming neighborhood pikkujoulut.

Fi: Hän oli asunut Helsingin esikaupunkialueella nyt jo kolme vuotta, mutta tunsi olonsa yhä ulkopuoliseksi.
En: He had been living in the suburbs of Helsinki for three years now but still felt like an outsider.

Fi: Hannun sydän kaipasi kuulua joukkoon, mutta pelkotilat estivät häntä usein ottamasta ensimmäistä askelta.
En: Hannu's heart longed to belong, but his fears often prevented him from taking the first step.
