Story Transcript:

Et: Kadril oli päikeseline sügisene päev Tallinnas.
En: It was a sunny autumn day in Tallinn.

En: The leaves were in shades of gold and red everywhere as Kadri crossed the threshold of the Kumu Art Museum.

En: The museum, with its modern architecture, was filled with spacious galleries and high ceilings.

Et: Taas tundis Kadri kerget ärevust, kuid kunsti vaatamine alati rahustas teda.
En: Once again, Kadri felt a slight anxiety, but viewing art always calmed her.

En: She moved through the quiet halls, admiring the works of her favorite artists, when she suddenly stopped abruptly in front of one painting.

Et: See oli midagi tuttavat.
En: It was something familiar.

En: This painting reminded her of her own childhood artwork.

Et: Kadri vaatles seda tähelepanelikult.
En: Kadri observed it carefully.

En: At first, she couldn't be sure, but the more she examined it, the more the resemblance convinced her.

En: She felt every detail of the drawing in her heart.

Et: Aga allkiri?
En: But the signature?

Et: Seal oli nimeks keegi teine.
En: It bore someone else's name.

Et: Kuidas võis nii olla?
En: How could that be?

Et: Kadri otsustas tegutseda.
En: Kadri decided to take action.

Et: Ta seadis sammud muuseumi kuraatori, Juhan, kabineti poole.
En: She headed towards the office of the museum curator, Juhan.

Et: Juhan oli meeldiv mees.
En: Juhan was a pleasant man.

Et: Nad olid kohtunud varemgi Kumu üritustel.
En: They had met before at Kumu events.

En: Speaking with Kadri, Juhan showed interest and promised to investigate the background of the painting.

Et: "Mina," ütles Kadri, "tahaksin teada, kuidas see maal siia sattus ja miks see kannab teise kunstniku nime."
En: "I," said Kadri, "would like to know how this painting ended up here and why it bears another artist's name."

En: Juhan was understanding and promised to show her the museum archives.

Et: Arhiivides süvenesid nad koos museumi andmetesse.
En: Together, they delved into the museum's records.

Et: Maarja, muuseumi abiline, tõi dokumente.
En: Maarja, the museum assistant, brought documents.

Et: Kadri istus laua taha.
En: Kadri sat at the table.

Et: Ta uuris tähelepanelikult iga leidu, süda kiirelt põksumas.
En: She carefully examined each finding, her heart beating quickly.

Et: Siis juhtus midagi ootamatut.
En: Then something unexpected happened.

En: Juhan discovered an old letter from the other artist, which added clarity.
